Huge amount of storage freed up after install

Has anyone else found that installing Sierra has freed up a huge amount of space on their hard drive? I had about 20GB of my 256GB hard drive free when I installed, and now Finder is telling me I have 88GB free. Moving Documents and Desktop to iCloud only saved me 5GB so I'm not sure where the rest has come from. It has tidied up some sleepfiles and so on, but they weren't taking up much room.

Curiously, Daisy Disk is telling me I only have 53GB free, so I'm not sure where the other 35GB is hiding.

Perhaps some old system caches were freed up. Finder does not give a complete picture, it ignores certain directories. For instance, the local snapshots for Time Machine can be freed up at any time, so Finder does not show them to you.

33GB worth though (assuming 53GB is my true free storage)? Seems like a lot. This was also before I ran optimisation and none of my own files have changed.
