In all my years using mac, this is the first time happening to me.
Today, I see that my mac apps have a huge delay when I try to open them.
Some them never open at all anymore!
You know, I see the app icon on dock bouncing almost forever!

I have 10.15.7 catalina, on my mbp 15' late '13 (16gb ram, ssd), and I cannot recall making anything suspicious to see such a behavior from apps. My mac was always fast, and it still remains, but, something is going on with all apps.
I checked activity monitor, everything seems to be normal there.
The other usual management tasks, like finder, still are fast as they were always.
Also, if an application finally opens, then I cannot observe any other anomaly while using it.

So, something bad happens, and something seem to prevent applications from a normal beginning.
Can you please help me find out what is going on?

Same here, on 10.14.6 - just started a few hours ago. Ran malware bytes and avast to no result, but this means nothing. Further digging, but would love to know if someone already knows about something. I don't believe in coincidences.

Edit - "magically" all apps become responsive again once I shutdown the wifi interface => no Internet. But this is definitely not a solution, maybe just a mean to further dig into what's going on. Next: packet captures

WTF this is freaky! I am in the exact same boat with my iMac 2020 - Core i7, 64GB RAM. I had a meeting about to start and suddenly nothing would open. I had to join in on my iPad.

I tried everything from PRAM reset to creating a new profile. I thought I was going mad. Thank you OP for creating this topic. I wonder what the heck happened here.

EDIT: Also on 10.15.7 Supplemental Update.

Same here. I am running 10.14 on both of my Macs, and neither of them will function properly right now. Before I realized everyone was having this problem I zapped the PRAM and reinstalled the OS, but obviously that didn’t help.
