(ps, i am just a fan trying to spread the word so some more stretch goals can be reached)

I already supported it, although you need to get rid of the thread.

The mods will list it as soliciting and you can get a warning or banned for mentioning Kickstarter projects and encouraging people to look at it.

It's happened to a few people.

That would be a bit harsh. If this is soliciting then so is the humble bundle thread or any number of 'Game X is coming to Mac, here's a link to the Steam page' threads.

I got my thread about 7 Days to Die removed, and warning directly from a Mod here, because it linked and mentioned Kickstarter.

I received that for Soliciting according to them.

From moderator:

As per the rules, you may not solicit, including kickstarter projects

Soliciting. You may not use the forums to solicit donations, votes, or participants for surveys, contests, petitions, or product testing. Employment requests/offers are limited to the Marketplace forum and subject to the Marketplace Rules.

This might be something worth arguing about down in site feedback. I could understand the mods taking issues with someone signing up just to ask for kickstarter funds for their own projects, but regular posters popping in to prop up something they're interested in is an entirely different issue.

Kickstarter is kind of a new thing, so I can understand them judging it by older standards, but just about every other forum out on the internet doesn't consider posting a link to KS soliciting so long as it's done by a third party.

That seems kinda harsh/weird. I can understand if somebody is a vendor; they need to identify themselves and state whether they may make a profit or benefit from sales, etc.

But a fan of something writing in to just say, hey, check out this Kickstarted project? How is that different from somebody saying, hey, I just went and bought/downloaded this game/app and I love it, go check it out?

If they want to make up a silly rule, then just say, no direct linking...

If it wasn't for fans posting here, I would not have heard about any Kickstarter projects, and I'm very happy to support the ones I signed up for!

I wouldn't say it's a silly rule, so much as Kickstarter just popped up out of nowhere and become an exception to it by its popularity. Before, having some random person show up and say "olol I'm making game please pay money to this paypal account", or "olol I've selling these fine leather jackets" would be kind of annoying and...yeah, a little suspicious. The rule is there to keep people from doing that, both for the sake of the posters, and probably because MR doesn't want to come anywhere close to being potentially liable if something goes awry.

But Kickstarter? It's everywhere nowadays. You can't hit up a game site or forum without seeing 50 links to the latest batch of KS projects. It's both a way for developers to show off their new titles, and a way for them to get some extra cash. It's not just soliciting. Everyone knows what it is, what it does, and what it entails.

...so hey, why not?

On a different note, I am looking forward to the game. I backed it yonks ago and it's just going form strength to strength.

I like how it'll be a true multi-platform title as well. Something Indies are always able to manage, and do from the start. While large Publishers/devs can't even manage a half decent port.

Same here. It looked too awesome to not back, so I went ahead and did it. I mean comeon, it's got Superbrothers' art style mixed with Zelda style gameplay mixed with Diablo style frantic action in an awesome centuries-after-the-end ruinous future setting. How could anyone not think that makes for the greatest recipe for a videogame ever? :D

I mean just look at those .gifs up above. They're all so grand. That little marketplace shot reminds me of those old EGA Sierra adventure games I used to play as a kid.

I think this is gonna change here soon, but that's another story for another thread.
