Hypercard was largely replaced by HTML and Javascript. If you've ever played Myst, you've seen what HyperCard can do, and much of it was designed with Hypercard. It was an easy way to teach people how to program and make applications that were simple to very complex. The designer of HyperCard, said once that had he though ahead and made it capable of accessing data on other computers, it likely would be used for Internet Applications.
