Hypocritical of Apple??

So to avoid confusion and haters I will Re-type this post

Apple is rumored to redesign their laptops soon and they are said to make the switch to aluminum, which would make most if not all their macs aluminum. This is great I love aluminum and I am all for this idea, however, I find it inconsistent of apple to get rid of the aluminum first generation iphone and to bring in the black and white plastic backed 3g iphone. To avoid hate I love the new iphone I have a white one and i have a blackbook this is just something that wandered into my mind. And Yes I do realize that apple used plastic for better reception, that is understood to me, don't bring it up, but I still find it mildy iconsistent especially for people with a mac pro set up and having everything aluminum and then having a black iphone if you know what i mean. As always I hope responses and lets keep this civil, no posts about how this thread sucks and yada yada yada its unnecessary and frankly rude

I definitely prefer the Aluminum back on the original iPhone over the plastic back on the iPhone 3G. I do think of was a necessary evil though to go with the plastic. I will say that even though Apple went with the plastic they went to great efforts to make the phone not look cheap. In summary, even though I would prefer an aluminum back, I have no problems with the plastic. I jus hope the cracking of some models was a fluke and not a major manufacturing flaw.

I'm on a iPhone 3G now and it feels great in my hand, the reason they swited to plastic is coz signal can't get through aluminium properly.

Proper punctuation would make the original a lot easier to read. Right now its just one run on sentence. Stream of consciousness writing has a place, but consider that writing a question in a forum may not be the best place to use it.

And how is it hypocritical for apple to do that. Hypocritical means someone is saying one thing and doing another. At best, its mildly inconsistent of apple. Regardless, its funny because you answer your own question, with the line about reception. Kind of an important detail in a phone. Additionally, there is nothing inherently better about aluminum, and there is no "aluminum age". It's simple a design choice. They probably just thought it looked better.

So I think apple is doing something odd to say the least, so we all know and love that the apple laptops are getting an update and lately all mac's have been getting fitted in aluminum very very cool, i love that....however...lets look at the first generation iphone, its aluminum, and the new 3g plastic black and white...why is apple taking all their computers to the aluminum age but keeping the 3g's the same color as the present macbooks

Because the iPhone 3G needs better reception to work. Note that the original iPhone had a bit of plastic on it.

It's not that awkward. Everything's going to aluminum except for the products that need plastic to function properly.

Noticed you edited your post there... Well, either you get a aluminium back, which after experiencing both is not as good as the plastic one anyway, and have bad reception, a known problem on the old iPhone, or put up with with plasic and actually have a working phone! What's more important?

Actually, the apple machine is a bit different than a PC. If it were the same, you could run Vista on it without the need for any other programs, like bootcamp. And, for those that have tried the reverse, running OSX on a PC, they have had to change hardware around to make the OS work.

A Mac machine is a better made one.

Assuming that the comfort in the hand and better reception aren't enough of a reason for the plastic back, I'm not following the implied need for all products to have similar external materials. Macintosh is Apple's computer line and there is a great deal of similarity amongst them. Where's the cry for all Nanos to be aluminum?

I get that there is a general desire for consistency. I'm big on aesthetics and a bit OCD so I can appreciate to a point, I just think it's a quite ridiculous to say a company is being "hypocritical" because they made a product that doesn't match up exactly to my computer.

Haha, even in the aulden days, Apple was merely on par with Thinkpads, and even after Lenovo bought the Thinkpad brand and took over production the quality hasn't gone down. But, Apple, on the other hand, decided t cut corners, so now they're far below the quality of a thinkpad (or even a good dell-series), yet you still pay more for it than you would for a thinkpad.

I guess though, as long as there are "believers", people will feel fine paying a premium for inferiour hardware, all the while regurgitating something that stopped being true three or four years ago.

Haha, so you're saying that the fact that you bought a Mac means it's better quality than, say, a Thinkpad? Sorry, in the real world circular argumentation based on logical fallacies doesn't cut.

Secondly, "Mac" is the name of the computer, not the company. The company is called "Apple". You know - the fellas who also make the much hyped iPod and iPhone.

True. But stating that "Macs are better because otherwise I wouldn't have bought one" is not stating something as opinion. And frankly, it's a logical fallacy screaming "LOOK AT ME!!!".

Anyway, many people are also of the opinion that the iPod is the best sounding dap out there. Yes, everyone and their aunt have an opinion, but that doesn't make every opinion equally valid.
