Hi..i have mp 2009 quad 2.66..
I usually go to macmall to have them install my additional hd...and graphic card..
but i was thinking about replacing my main hd for ssd. If i'm going to do that...how would i transfer my stuff to main drive...or better yet...how would even install snow leopard cd on it?

I'm not sure if i know what i'm talking about because i never thought of doing except having someone install additional hd...

please help me. thx.

How big is your current boot drive? How full is it? If everything on your current boot drive can fit on to the SSD, all you have to do is install the drive and use something like Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper to clone your boot drive to the SSD.

You would need some sort of 2.5" drive to 3.5" drive bracket to mount the SSD to one of the hard drive sleds. Once that's done, you just slide it in and do the cloning. It's a very easy upgrade to do.

Ahh ok. Thank you. I'm not so savvy with hands on skills... But thanks now that you told me. :)

If you have a Mac-using friend you could ask them to do it for you in return for a beer.

i wish... :(

These are awesome > http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other+World+Computing/MMP35T25/.

I would recommend doing a fresh install and then migrating over the data so the SSD will be optimized. Just install the SSD into a 2.5-3.5" mount sled and do a fresh install of OSX. You can download Mavericks for free, unless you need an older version for specific software you may be running. During the install, it will ask you to migrate your data from another HDD. Just target your old drive and change your SSD as the boot drive.

If all is good and data transferred correctly, you can wipe your old HDD and then use that as a Time machine backup.
