I am a weary apple consumer...

I purchased my first mac in april 2007. I purchased a fully loaded macbook pro 15.4" and it ran me over 2,500$

I love that computer to death. Matte screen, large display, 500gb, 3.3GB, 2.33GHz. But i've been in the market to purchase a lighter, cooler laptop.

I almost pulled the trigger on a 13.3" Gen 1 mba, but decided against spending 1800$. I almost certain this time to pulled the trigger and buy a Ultimate 13" MBA for 1700$ that came out in october but after long debate I purchased the base macbook air 11.6" for a steal! 899$ after tax.

And I am in love! the 13.3 would not be much of a transition for me from the 15.4". I love the price and I love the product, I always thought the new macbook pros lacked the same quality compared to my non-unibody mbp. I chose the base because I did not want to pay 1300$ for a 11.6" and this base is nothing to be ashamed of because it incredibly snappy. I am glad I have a home mac and a take away. I only stored my classical music for studying, important documents + Pdfs, and i'm good to go!

Again, I am extremely picky and if you are too, you would buy the 11.6" mba its amazing. The 11.6 lives up to the hype! Unlike most other apple products (iPad, touch, 3GS)

Indeed. After owning an 11" Air for 2 weeks already, I finally managed yesterday to test a 13 version. Boy, the OMG feeling was gone. It felt just like a lighter pro and I missed the 16:9 aspect instantly. Sure, I understand why people buy the 13" and I always thought that every Apple product has a dedicated part of consumers but honestly the 11 one really has something special, it has that unique feeling to it.

Remember that the MBA may be smaller and lite, and cute and all, but with component repairs they will be more expencive because the parts will more than likely be specific to your model.

You have to be careful with any computer that small and thin, more likely to break. The mail worry with those would be the motherboard shorting out

The 11" is a cool toy computer but it drove me nuts after about 5 minutes at the Apple Store. That small of a screen was useless to me. I feel much less limited with my 13" Air. But to each their own. If you like it and use it then that's great. I also got a steal on mine. Brand new in the box on Craigslist for $800.

Yea me neither. I meanI get the not able to upgrade part. I just don't think the Air is fragile. It's a solid unibody construction, and if anything there's way less moving parts in them than the Pros.

Why are you weary? It seems like you really enjoy your MBA? Did you have other apple products that didn't work or are you just not a fan of some of apple's products? Its fine if you aren't, but I was just a little confused by the thread title. MBA 11 finally hits the mark for netbook owner types which makes it a good choice for people who really like mobility (which it seems like you do). The Solid State Memory is also an excellent move for the MBA.

Yea and it was still sealed and everything. I live in Las Vegas. And it was like the week before Christmas when I got it. He also had a sealed iPad 64 GB 3G for like 350 bucks but I already had one at the time and didn't feel like spending more money. I think I lucked out, even though I do see deals like that on there once in a while, it certainly isn't an every day occurrence.

He says that the MacBook Air 11", the iPad, the iPod touch and the iPhone 3GS are all hyped up, and that only the MBA 11" lives up to the hype.

In my opinion, it's only the iPad which is hyped - and it doesn't live up to it either. I guess "overrated" is the word I'm looking for. I don't hate the iPad or anything, it's more like... "Meh". I have tried it myself and it feels like a giant iPod touch with grainy display. That's all. Nothing magic about it.

baka.. the MBAs are a quite tight and solid build, unmatched in this class. It is not your aluminum painted plastic thin-book pc. it is real aluminum. take one in your hand, you will see..

spare parts? almost any laptop will present you the same situation. some more expensively, but as far my experience goes, once it survives the warranty, it survives usually much longer..

I think you are right. I'm a longtime MacBook Air user, and while I stuck with the 13" for the Rev D, I'll likely switch over to the 11" with the 2012 revision, as I'm guessing the Ivy Bridge CPU at that time will be a boost over the Core 2 Duo/NVIDIA 320m. I think the 11" Sandy Bridge might be only a lateral move from the "Ultimate 13", or even a step down if they go CULV with Sandy Bridge.

I think he means "wary" as in cautious and careful.
