You will be waiting for more than a year minimum if not more. Its a small segment for apple so there is no rush to come out with product. You're holding on to memories....you'll be surprised what you can buy nowadays for $1500

Is Steve ballmer paying you to be on these forums? Hahaha. Anyway, my Mac pro will last 2-3 more years, so I can wait.

This whole debacle has shown us a couple things...
  1. Apple was perfectly happy to let Pros leave en masse, even though Macs are the only means to create content for the iOS environment

The above point is really what puzzles me the most. The Apple mobile depends on products made using their desktops, as you say above. So even if it's a small market, a small piece of the pie, they can't put some effort into desktop hardware, really? Unbelievable.

Bought myself a Huawei phone recently, modestly priced. Talked myself out of any iPhone.

Developing IOS apps doesn't require much. So a MacBook or iMac covers that aspect. The mini and MP are more about marketing the Apple brand than anything else. As mentioned they don't generate much profit compared to everything else.

So the technical people are supposed to purchase ancient tech gear?

Having something be "good enough" and having technical people motivated to buy equipment, are two entirely different things.

Hence, why technical folks are leaving in droves.

They were given the MacBook Pro with touch. The bean counters think the techies should have been happy and thankful as they have a toy. No more money was to get wasted on Mac R&D for another 5 years.

It's a business, not a philanthropic effort to further computing. No one buys them (the pro especially) so I wouldn't expect any less. But they should still lower the price, anyone paying the full amount for them now is a buffoon.
