First off ... great site .... I am in the process of being converted from pc to mac, I am up to 2 3rd gen nanos and my iphone.

anyway
I have searched the forum here and have found some answers but some are cunfusing and contradicting. I see all of the great 3rd party things that the iphone can do and want them..... here are a few things i am wondering......

I have a 1.1.1 that i have had for a little over a month now, I have upgraded to 1.1.2 through itunes

1. How do i jailbreak it? I have my contract with ATnT and dont want to change that just add some 3rd Party stuff to it

2. Once i do get it jailbroke can I and if so how can i get the 1.1.2 updates back on it without loosing anything?

3. When 1.1.3 comes out if i accidently upgrade it will my phone be bricked? If not would there be a way to upgrade to it without loosing the jailbreak?

4. Doing a factory reset on it at anytime will put it back to "like new" without any problems?

Thanks For any help in advance.

1.If youre not going to unlock your phone then you can just download APPSNAPP application to you phone.

2. No you wouldn't lose any features that you have on your 1.1.2 firmware. Once you have downloaded APPSNAPP, go to service package, Community package and download that. Then youll have a bunch of 3rd party application list that you can download on your phone.

3. If 1.1.3 comes out and youre afraid you will brick your phone when updating, I suggest you do a restore first thru iTunes then do an upgrade then jailbreak it again.

4.www.iphone.unlock.no and follow these procedures when you want to do a restore on your phone. Shouldnt have any problems restoring it.

First off, welcome! :)

Follow one of the guides on here. I did what you are talking about (jailbreaking only, staying with AT&T) and made a guide for it HERE. Whether you follow the guide I wrote or not, if you get stuck and/or need help feel free to PM or IM me.

Since you have upgraded to 1.1.2 from 1.1.1 already, you must do the "downgrade, jailbreak, upgrade" method linked above. At the end you will be running firmware 1.1.2 (with all the updates and bug fixes that came with it) and will also have installer.app (APPSNAPP).

3. When 1.1.3 comes out if i accidently upgrade it will my phone be bricked? If not would there be a way to upgrade to it without loosing the jailbreak?

Not really a good way to answer this... :) Make sure you turn off any automatic update features in iTunes so that it won't update to the new firmware without you knowing it. That way, you have to actually click something to update. There's not a good way to safeguard against this that I know of, others might be able to offer some better advice here.

This shouldn't be any problem. I have done it and my phone has been fine.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

you can check my posts, I have written numerous guides on jailbreaking on this site.
