Hello.. So i'm looking to upgrade my mid 2010 imac 21.5 11,2 and i come across AMD M5100 doing my research.. I found the vbios here:

I'm confused.. First it says "Use the M5100-DELL vBIOS for the red Dell card, only!" then when you scroll down there's a warning " do not use this vBIOS on the Red DELL card, it will cause a bad flash and will make the card unusable"

SO DO I FLASH IT OR NOT? LOL I Don't understand.. I need to know if i should purchase that card on ebay or not...Am i misunderstanding something or is there an error in that post? LoL

That ROM is for the poster only.
It's clearly marked at the top of the post: EXPERIMENTAL.

It depends on the color of the card and the type of memory of it.

The vBIOS attached here supports Elpida memory.
There is another vBIOS with Hynix BFR memory support.
And there is a third vBIOS with Hynix AFR memory support.

No, I don't use M5100m for iMac 27" 2011. I already have a WX4170 and a Quadro M4000m.
There is no specific rom for M5100 to be used on iMac 27" 2011. You'd better avoid that card if your iMac is 27" 2011 model.

Hey mad vinegar thanks for the response buddy. I thought I read something that said if I installed open core before I installed the card I would be able to get high Sierra to load without flashing the card. I am not too worried about an apple logo or boot screen at the moment. I can attempt the flash from a putty terminal on my laptop. I thought the flash was for boot screen etc. Apparently installing the card and putting everything back together and pressing power, waiting, doesn't work. I am pretty sure the memory is Hynix. Ill see what the chip says.

I have the M5100 coming. I ordered this one first. I ordered it and after a lot of reading it appears that card won’t work. It’s a fermi card.

Nothing wrong with it, it's a hit and miss with iMac 12,2 (your iMac), and misses are more than hits. If you planned to use it on another model like 2009 or 2010, I would recommend it because of the good price and its compatibility with latest Mac OS.
