Even though I prefer smaller phones, I'm genuinely happy to see it. This, to me, is the max an iPhone should ever cost. I'm okay with the 64 GB version. The form factor is awesome. I think this may be the perfectly sized iPhone. The only thing that wasn't clear to me is whether the XR also has dual SIM support.

The only disappointment is the release date :(

Looks pretty good.. but those bezels. **** you Apple. :)

I was disappointed to see a 720p 6,1" screen in 2018, I expected to see at least 1080p (as seen on much cheaper Android phone (the 100€ phone I'm using right now have a 5,5" 1080p screen)
But overall this iPhone seems pretty interesting, but a bit expensive, I think it's better to wait the first test to see if it does really worth it

720p is not good but there has to be a compromise to enable a cheaper price. Even affordable android flagships have compromises.

Personally I would just go for the Xs as the Xr isn’t cheap enough.

To me, a $250 price difference is a lot.

I was going to get the Max... but to me the Xr seems like the better buy. I dont need dual cameras and while I would love an OLED display the display on my iPhone 7+ is good enough for me now and it seems like the LCD on the Xr will be an upgrade.

Anyone else feeling this way?

What else are you not getting with the Xr that you get with the XS Max?
[doublepost=1536779229][/doublepost]Looks like the Xr pricing is wrong on Apples Website.

It shows the Xr starting at $1,029.

To me, a $250 price difference is a lot.
Split $250 over 2-5 year and the number of times you state at the screen and you will find that the extra money for a better screen is well spent.

But if money is tight then I understand. The Xr will sell well.

Xr seems like pretty good value compared to the Xs and Max - most of the features of the Xs/Max at a lower price and the compromises are pretty limited. I didn't expect portrait mode and some portrait lighting effects on the Xr with a single camera (but Google did it first with the Pixel 2 so good for Apple for upping their game), it is really only missing the optical zoom, which I don't really care about anyway. It even has the best battery life!

$1029 is the Canadian price and the link you shared is the Canadian Apple Store (I can tell by the /ca/ in your link).

My first reaction is the same as yours. BUT Apple has a weird tall perspective - it's a narrow and tall screen. The actual resolution figures are different from what you would expect on a 720p phone:
"1792-by-828-pixel resolution at 326 ppi"

Compare this to the budget Noki 3.1:
"18:9 5.2” 1440x720 HD+"

So the new Xr is close to the Android phone lines new aspect ratio of 18:9 which is really 2:1. Widescreen TV is 16:9 for comparison.

The new form factor isn't "iPad" shape for easy (wider) page reading when held in portrait mode. It doesn't exactly fit Widecreen movies - it will have "black bars" on each end of the display when held in landscape mode (movie mode). (Compared the black bars on the end to the top and bottom "letterboxing" on iPads in landscape mode.)

I think the reason for narrow and tall is the assumption that people use phones in portrait mode mostly, and mostly to check their Facebook and Instagram feeds, which are well-suited to a "taller" screen.

Also the "taller" screen is easier for more people to hold in just one hand in portrait mode. A "wide angle" aspect ratio, 16:9, would limit the the number of people who can hold in one hand, and an iPad 3:2 aspect ratio would mean no single hand for holding.

SO this isn't going to replace my Nexus 7 as a portable media player since it is too narrow. But I'm sure a lot of people will enjoy being able to use it as an actual phone (narrower, easier to hold).

Why didn't Apple use the 18:9 ratio that's all the rage in Android-world right now? You've got me. I guess Apple can demand a custom LCD panel size and shape, they've got that much buying clout.

I can't lay out the cash for another 326 ppi phone. Just can't do it, last year was pushing it.

The white will be gorgeous though, the 7 layer will make it like a white 4S, but deeper.

Yeah I am all about getting the best iPhone for the past whatever years but this XR has me interested. I like how it has most of the features of the X like 4k and "stereo widening" and stereo video recording besides the OLED, dual camera, screen resolution. I have a 8+ now and the LCD doesn't bother me, plus I like the 6.1" screen size as its a sweet spot. I think the XR is the way I will go, plus spending the same amount if not more on an iPhone that is priced more than a MacBook...ehhh not so sure on that.

No it's the same 326 ppi that has been the standard for iPhone from the iPhone 4-8 (just not the Plus models). I honestly can't tell the difference with higher resolution screens.
I get eye strain from reading text on low resolution phone. When I was in the market for a new phone I looked at the Huawei P20 but instantly wrote it off as the lcd screen was noticeable worse than the one on the oled P20 Pro.

More importantly. What's the point of a killer camera and big screen of the photos and videos will look pixelated?

You have much better eyes than me if you can see pixels at 326 ppi, and I've had laser eye surgery so my vision is pretty good. Also, OLED screens seem to give me a headache for some reason so I'm happy that LCD isn't dead (yet).

Images are not pixelated on a Retina display. Human eyes can't discern any difference in resolution above around 300 ppi, when viewing a phone from a normal distance. The difference between 326 ppi and 458 ppi isn't discernible to humans.

Pretty much sums up my feelings too. Finally a blue iPhone. £750 is fair price. It looks gorgeous and I can’t wait to get one.

I may go into apple and play with the phones and see what I like best. Right now I am leaning towards the Xr but hate that there is a delay but I can handle my 8+ one more month lol

That's BS the marketing people want you to think.
Put the same image on a 326 ppi iPhone and a 401 ppi Plus iPhone and it's EASY to see the increased pixelation on the lower resolution iPhone even without perfect vision. Just like I'd never go back to spinning hard drives again, I'd never buy an iPhone with a resolution lower than 400 ppi. You get spoiled. It's hard to go back to something that's worse.
