Ever since I downloaded the last Airport update, my airport card has been flaky and dropping the connection every five minutes. It's ridiculous.
I've spoken to my friend who works at an apple store (although not a local one, so I can't take my iMac in) and he said it's a "known issue", then a while later tells me to update the firmware in my router because Apple could have changed the way the airport card sends information to devices. I CAN'T update the firmware in my router. So does this mean I need to buy a new router just because Apple broke my perfect connection before? It bloody shouldn't.

I am sick to death of this. I use the internet a lot for uploading and downloading big files all the time... and having them interrupted and restarted every five minutes is doing my head in. I cannot cope with it being like this anymore. So what the heck am I supposed to do? It's flipping ridiculous.

Why can't you update the firmware in your router? It seems like that's probably your best bet.
