This is getting quite old. WMplayer wont open, as I stated in my post a while back, kernel fault. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, stood on my head and even clucked like chicken......nothing.

Curses to the people that make .wmv files!! I still want to view news footage though. Even with the greatest desktop OS...I cant do it.

How can I get this done?

Use vlc , search www.versiontracker.com for it. Can you download the files?

main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `WMV3'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

Outside of using Windows Media Player, you have 3 options:

1) Use VLC (iffy)
2) Use MPlayer (tends to work better than VLC for WMV files)
3) Pay $10 for the Flip4Mac QuickTime plugin (works quite well)

you probably know this already, but you'll never be able to play copy protected WMVs without VPC.

Pretty lame, I cant play a single .wmv on anything, VLC, MPlayer. Almost enough to make a guy go to XP for a desktop. Something so simple......

Flip4Mac should be able to play it. Perhaps more importantly, you should write to the content provider and encourage them to use a real format.

Unfortunately, people just dont 'know'. It would be about as effective as telling them to not use Windows.
