...ordered me a brand spanking new iMac from *Apple.Com - Yay! for me!

24".. 2.93Ghz.. and an ATI card which makes for a 3 to 5 week wait..

*Now I can sleep assured that all the parts are pure :apple:

Geez I waited forever, looking for a supercomputer for a song and a dance..

Almost went for that PC,
but that good angel on my Right Shoulder spoke soothing words to me,
assuring me that :apple: is 'way-cooler' than a PC.. ;)

Plus there's the bragging factor based on the ingrained :apple: logo,
and the fla$h factor per unit a la mercedes benz..

WOW! That guy can afford an :apple: !

He's not only good-looking and smart, he must be rich! :p

Just curious if you were looking for a super computer what made you decide on an iMac..... dont get me wrong an iMac is a wonderful and very capable consumer computer but definitely not a super computer......... of course that all depends on your perception of what a super computer should be :D

I exaggerated a skosh..

I do Video.. Music.. Writing..

I wanted to be 'up to date' .. kinda like Tallest Skil.. ;)
So I checked up and coming tech specs, et cet..
but, the Economy has slowed things down..

I prolly wudda bought a Mac Pro (I'd a dual processor G4 Silver Whatever which finally bit it's bullet), yet I finally came to the bittersweet conclusion, that if left to my own devices, I wudda maxed it out to the tune of $27,000+.. :D

For my purposes, an iMac should be fine..

I'll lean on Crucial for an additional 4G's of RAM..

I'm stoked!

oh ok so you know your stuff lol. Alot of people who dont really know what they are doing see the price of an iMac and think they are getting a super machine but they dont know about Mapple Tax.

To be Frank,
it really was a sort of, "Bite the Bullet" bittersweet decision.

I'd take a Mac Pro in a heartbeat, but gee whillikers, it costs..

So my decision was more based upon "principle" than pocketbook, per se..

I was hoping the new iMac would have a "QUAD" in it..

Who really really gives a hoot what a QUAD can really really do?

The very word "QUAD" (itself) wudda been worth the price of admission.. !

Face it.. (and I say this in all sincerity)

If you possess a resonant baritone or bass voice,
and say "QUAD" nice and s l o w l y with extra_ordinary Volume,
it will tickle the goodies of every person in the room.. :p

Congrats on your purchase, it should be worth the wait.

I was in the same predicament as many and understand your pain about the "missing quad". I've been riding my 2nd hand eMac since mid 2008. Wanted a new iMac, and the update didn't impress. So I went with a Mini hoping next year we'll get quads. It was a HARD decision to make, hopefully it pays off.

Well done on choosing your new iMac, glad to read that you have ordered the iMac with an ATi graphics chip

Make sure you post back when it arrives, with your review.

Are we allowed to say that on this iMac Forum? ..

/now I won't sleep tonite; thank you!

Don't be bothered by that guy. You're getting a wonderful machine. Chances are that you'd never need or notice the extra horsepower (and size, and cost) of the Mac Pro. Seriously, you're going to be thrilled with this machine.

Actually I say those iMacs are a bit of super computers. They are so fast now. I really don't think there is anything better out there for people.

Heck, a Mac Pro is so gigantic and hard to sell, if you ever want to change computer.

I say getting the current iMac every few years is better than keeping a big giant Mac Pro longer and feeling like you can't easily sell it and stuff.

DOn't get me wrong, Mac Pros are amazing, but I think for most of us imacs just work out so much better, and they're faster than the pro machines of a few years past anyway.

Congrats on the purchase. Hope you enjoy it for years to come.
Thanx for all of your encouragment, discouragement, attention, applause, and most of all, money! :p

"I shall return!" (with a report on my :apple: iMac to be.) :)
