Hey everyone, I’m fairly new to apple products. And after owning (2) iPhone SE’s for over a year, I took the plunge and just purchased the new iPad Pro X 11” WiFi/Cellular version. It’s 60 days after purchase were coming up fast, so I just added apple care in case something happens.

Is AppleCare premium really good? Does anyone have any first hand experience using it?

I love my new iPap. And I try to take care of it, but if I broke it I definitely couldn’t afford to buy it again...

If it actually did break by accident is it really just cut and dry, pay deposit, get a new one? Or get it fixed?

I have (2) children who like to play with it too. And, I’m always worrying about it..

Thanks for the input everyone, I love this tablet! Super sleek, and ridiculously fast!

Hey everyone, I’m fairly new to apple products. ......... Super sleek, and ridiculously fast!

I bought an iPad Pro 11 inch as well. I made sure to get the AppleCare. In my experience when something gets broken from accidental damage apple care has been great for me.

Had an iPad that I dropped and cracked the screen and dented the aluminum. It was great to be able to pay the deductible and have a replacement so quickly.

Worth the cost for peace of mind. Even if I never have to use it.

I’ve never bought AppleCare for iPads and never needed it.

However, no one can determine was is/isn’t a good decision for you except you.

However, none of this matters, as you’ve already purchased it.

Many on these forums have and haven’t bought AppleCare. May I suggest trying the forum’s search tool?

Congrats on the new device and welcome to the forums.

Have it, but don’t need it, need it, but don’t have it

Accidents do happen no matter how careful you are.

And some are more prone to accidents than others. EACH has to make their only choice.

I have owned every iPhone back to the first they made and never needed any warranty or coverage for damage. Same for all 4 Apple watches, all still look like new.

Even if I totaled my MAX today, I would still be well ahead in money saved from not buying AC+

One thing to keep in mind is that it’s possible to cancel Apple Care for a prorated refund, even if you purchase the 2 year plan up front. You just need to call Apple support directly.

The last time I bought AppleCare was in 2002 with my first Mac. I bought it so I would be able to call in and get help as I didn't know how the ins and outs of Apple devices. Since then, I've gone AppleCare-less. Sometimes, I've dropped my phones or iPads, sometimes I haven't.

Apple, of course, doesn't price AppleCare to lose money. So, overall, it's a losing bet. That doesn't mean that some customers don't come out ahead. But in general, over a large population or a large number of devices, strictly speaking monetarily, it isn't worth it for the consumer.

I bought AppleCare as well. I've had quite a few iPads over the years, and most of the time, they end up cracked. Granted, I didn't baby them anywhere near as much as I'm babying this one.

But it's good to have just in case.

That is true. But one must examine their own history and draw the conclusion for themselves. I think it is a bit silly for all of these blanket "AppleCare+ is a must!" statements. It might very well be a "must" for those who need it, but not something that is universally beneficial.

I've owned Apple products over the past 12 years... iPhones, iPads (nearly every gen Pro and non-Pro), iPods (all different form factors and models), iMacs, Macbook Pros, Macbook Airs.
About 40 in total is the ballpark. I never purchased AppleCare for any of them. In all that time there was never an opportunity that I needed it or could've used it.

That's a ton of money that I saved.

Apple loves the fear-mongering around their products. It gives them another healthy revenue stream.

Having said that, those who are prone to causing damage to their devices, then it makes sense. For my adult daughter, who seems to drop her iPhone on nearly a daily basis, AppleCare is a must.

Wow! A lot of replies. I’m not a accident prone person, and I never use cases, or screen protectors either. I usually like the device plain. This iPad is it not as nimble as my iPhone SE though. It just feels like I could smash it any day lol. Or anyone using it.

AppleCare is only $6.41 every month, with a $30 dollar deposit to have it fixed if I smashed my screen. And only $50 if I totally incapacitated it.

Seems like a good deal to me! I purchased this iPad Pro 3rd gen outright and it’s unlocked, but I put AppleCare on the available pay every month option.

$5.99/mo. & $30 deductible? Are you sure you got AppleCare+? Sounds more like cellular provider Asurion device insurance.

Well said. Apple executives who get massive bonuses love to convince people that AppleCare is a must. When i worked at Sears selling appliances, management pushed the sale of Maintenance Agreements (similar to applecare). Management pointed out that those MAs were practically free money for the company.

These are expensive devices. Take care of them and they last for a really long time without scratches, dents, dings, and mishaps.

Bingo! Reminds me of every time I go to buy a new car.... the salesmen tells me how rock-solid reliable the car is and worth every penny... but by the time I get to the finance guy's office, I'm told that the car will completely break down and need a new engine the day after the warranty expires and how the extended warranty is a "must".

Yea I bought it on apples website late last night. And had to go through the diagnostics on the device, and send the results in.
