Hi everyone

I bought AirPods Pro on Rakuten, to a reseller (like you and me, not a company)
This dude had taken a picture of a amazon bill to make me believe they are brand new from amazon. I thought why would anybody resell brand new item for lower price .. but I ordered

When I saw the packaging I knew deep down something was wrong sith the color, not as brownish as the original Iphone packaging that Ive got

But still I opened it and the plastic around the airpods case is a fake, the apple one is rigid, opaque. Here, it is not rigid at all and has no instructions it. The other difference with a true apple packaging would be the cable, rolled in 4 rows, here its not as clean.
These are the two ONLY physical differences with apple original product.

The software is working except the 3 options for NAC and the option for spacial audio. Of course the sound is disgusting like a 30€ earbud sound and the notifications are so loud it would kill my ears. Also the music stop itself from time to time, its bugged

I contacted Rakuted support to tell I received a counterfeit but HOW am I gonna proove it, my god I feel so sick.
The ****i*g serial number is working and is the same on both airpod and case.
Rakuten will ask for pictures… but except for the 2 points mentioned above Im kinda screwed for pictures to prove Im right.

I want this seller to be punished so badly for reselling counterfeit, I have his adress because of mondial relay and I want to report him to the police lol. But wouldnt know how to proceed.

Take them to an Apple Store. Get them to verify it is a knock off. Don't worry about punishing. Just worry about getting your money back. Then don't make a dumb mistake like that again. Buy from a place with a return policy. Pay with PayPal, NOT Friends and Family. Be smart.

I’m not familiar with Mondial Relay, but does that guarantee that was his address? I mean, I could put anyone’s address as mine when I ship via USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc. I wouldn’t be surprised if the scammer did the same thing.

For a small item like this that is below the threshold of a felony, I think small claims court is your best bet for “punishing”. But I think you’d have to file in his district and be willing to show up in person.

Sooo, it’d probably cost more for you to travel to court than what you might win. But on the bright side, if he ignores your court case, which he probably will since he knows they’re fake, you’d win by default.

And this is why things like Amex are great, PayPal probably works OK too. I would inform them that I was sold a counterfeit item and they'd do a chargeback. I can't honestly remember the last time I paid cash for something.

Having dealt with small claims court and won by default it's never really worth it even if it's a moral victory.

Same happened to me on Beats wireless pro, first thing I did was check the serial number on the box at the Apple website, sure enough it was a serial number that had been replaced by Apple. Luckily the company I purchased them from "Lazada" has a very good return policy and I was able to get full refund for a counterfeit item.
