Yes, not a huge incremental improvement in performance or features. That's what many have been saying. I have not much use for Center Stage either. But not a wasted purchase, IMO.
I had the iPad Air 4 and bought the Air 5. I cannot tell I have a new device. M1 isn't any snappier and I won't use CenterStage that often if ever. Doh!!
Going from an Air 4 to a Air 5, you may not immediately notice that much different in terms of performance with day to day tasks. But with intensive tasks like 3D gaming, video/batch image editing and rendering, coding etc you will notice the increased performance here due to the M1‘s superior GPU and multi core performance. Also the 8GB RAM means less reloading of safari tabs and apps in the app switcher.I had the iPad Air 4 and bought the Air 5. I cannot tell I have a new device. Wish iPad Mini 6 had 8GB…
Perfect opportunity to save some money; return the 5 and buy another Air-4 or a refurbished 2020 iPad Pro. For around the same money you'll get the Pro's nicer screen, speakers, and 6GB RAM.I had the iPad Air 4 and bought the Air 5. I cannot tell I have a new device. I figured out that when I got the 2017 iPad Pro it was overkill for me. I only upgraded to the 2018 iPad Pro because my kids damaged the charging port on my iPad Pro 2017. I don’t think I will upgrade from my 2018 iPad Pro for many years to come. I only use it for consumption. The A12X in the 2018 iPad Pro is still overkill for IpadOS. Putting an M1 in iPads now must be a sick inside joke at Apple.
Speaking as someone who "upgraded" last year from a 2018 iPP 11" to a 2021 M1 iPP 11" due to ghost touch (or touch disease) issue developing. Prior to that, I was forced to upgrade from 2017 10.5 pro due to bright spot developing the size of my thumb and Apple denying responsibility. Fewer reloads are the only difference, and very minimal as iPad apps are so lightweight they reload almost instantly. You have to wait like 1 extra second.
Waiting for this WWDC for some hope that the M1 isn't entirely wasted on iPads. Don't want any stupid additional emojis and window dressing. Give it a real OS.
I guarantee that I can see the difference between the A12X and M1 when using Lightroom on the iPad, and that's with 24MP photos, if I were using a 40MP+ camera the difference would be even more apparent. And none of this has to do with the state of iPadOS.The A12X in the 2018 iPad Pro is still overkill for IpadOS. Putting an M1 in iPads now must be a sick inside joke at Apple.
I’m sure if I was editing or photos or doing anything intensive I would benefit from an upgrade in processor. However I use my 2018 iPad Pro for consumption and for that it’s overkill.I guarantee that I can see the difference between the A12X and M1 when using Lightroom on the iPad, and that's with 24MP photos, if I were using a 40MP+ camera the difference would be even more apparent. So what you actually meant was that its overkill for you.I’m sure if I was editing or photos or doing anything intensive I would benefit from an upgrade in processor. However I use my 2018 iPad Pro for consumption and for that it’s overkill.
Yes. I was quite clear that I was talking about my usage and said if I was using it for things like you do then I would see the benefit. So what you actually meant was that its overkill for you.
I apologize for being snotty in my "So what you actually meant..." comment, I replied to Moyapilot not you. You were actually clear about it being overkill for you.Yes. I was quite clear that I was talking about my usage and said if I was using it for things like you do then I would see the benefit.
