Canada is my city
I don't have any strong opinions on the XS/XR, but overall the product itself is satisfactory. My only genuine concern is that it appears that it's getting more and more expensive. The XR (which is supposed to be the 5C of this generation) costs more than the latest iPhone prior to the X (by that I mean for example the price of the 7/6s/6/whatever when it was first launched). The X was already a ridiculously overpriced phone, and not only do they keep the price for the XS, which means that the XS Max is even MORE expensive, but they introduce an even higher capacity option without adjusting the capacity tiers!

If you live in Canada (and I imagine, many places other than the US) you know how expensive stuff got due to the poor exchange rate, with Apple being no exception. That means that the XS Max 512 GB literally costs $2000! That's right, a phone is almost as expensive as a car! And with tax, you will be paying an extra $300 in some provinces. And don't give me the "it's in CAD so it doesn't count" argument, because no matter how you look at it, that is still almost 1500 USD which is a genuinely disturbing amount of money that someone could pay for a phone.

Yeah yeah it's your money, spend it all you want. If you're rich then I imagine it's no problem for you to afford a new iPhone every year but I hope that you realise that not everyone else can. Apple went from making appropriately priced products of high quality to essentially luxury devices and I'm not okay with that. We already saw that with the MacBook Pro and these prices are unacceptable. On top of that, the fact that they've discontinued the SE and 6s and now claim the 7 as the "budget" device (which it ISN'T) is an utter joke.

And don't make me either the "resale value" argument nor the "paying monthly is no big deal" argument because ultimately the price you pay is the same regardless of whether you pay today or tomorrow, and the resale value percentage directly correlates with the initial price of the device, so you'll sell a $200 phone for $150 in a year, but you'll sell a $2000 phone for $1500 in a year, which means that you'll lose more money in the end either way.

Well, prices are always going up, and trade wars are only going to accelerate things. But I guess if you can find a good car for the same price as the iPhone, you should go with that if you need it!
