ok, i'd like a V3i, but without the 100 song limit and with a decent OS my absolute minimum requirements are:

mac compatibility (obviously, so preferably an isync compatible phone, but thats not 100% required, i just need to use it as a modem if need be).

bluetooth

memory card slot and a decent amount built in, also needs to be able to use the slot memory for everything.

1 megapixel camera

flip phones only

no bigger than a v3x

not butt ugly.

suggestions?

some panasonic phones looked nice but they are hella hard to get ahold of apart from the x800 which has a crappy camera and is finiky about any media application other than real.

i love my new sony ericsson w600i
it's in the middle of the range of their walkman phones and meets all the req's except flip phone (it twists open but you can use it closed) and memory card slot (it has 256mb built-in but no slot)
it's got a great ui, decent camera, plays back mp3's, aac's, and a few video formats, etc.
i think the high end walkman phone has a ms duo slot but i'm not sure.
oh, and it's a bit bigger than a v3

the handle at the top bugs me, also the size of the thing, edit: i'm a bluetard
i'm really a design perfectionist, i'm inches away from just buying a v3i, just the OS and restrictive features bug me.

it actually does play aac's (no drm), but i can definitely understand the size issue

i dont use the ITMS, so thats not an issue

size is a big issue, because it's useless to me unless i can be bothered to have it in my pocket at all times, and if it's too large i cant be ****ed with haveing it in their, also design, it has to not look like ass, and to my mind 99% of phones do, and those that dont have crippled features.

oh and by the way, dont be offended when i criticize why your phone is not suitable for me, it's because i'm a freakishly weird perfectionist.

If you find one that fits your needs, I will buy it if you change your avatar. :D I go cross eyed looking at it...

That's not gonna happen. Most phones only support one kind, if any at all.

I think he meant that he needed the memory to be used for everything on the phone.

oh, of course not. why should i be offended lol. its not like i designed it :p

I actually wont buy one but since you mentioned V3i, I can suggest you take a look as LG P7200. A lil bit fatter than V3i and may not look as good at first but I`d certainly prefer it over V3i any time. Here`s a review from Cnet.com.

The whole screen rotates and it can be used as a camera.

As far as AAC and Mac compatibility is concerned I dont really have an idea bout this phone. Google it if you find it interesting.
I also remember that there are some new samsung models (both filp and slide types) which are heavily inspired from razr. I dont remember the link. But in any case, those phones aren`t out yet. Also I m not sure if you`ll find LG P7200 in US of A.

i'm in the uk, that lg looks promising but lack oof mac compatibility is a big minus, and it's a tad expencive.

no memory card.

oh and i just realized that the V3i in the uk does not do itunes, yay, this no song limit. the OS still bugs me but unless anyone can show a phone that equals it in features and has a non restrictive OS as is a similar form factor i'll be happy.

definitely dont want a contract.

the panasonic x800 looks promiseing, it's perfect in every way, but only if it had a 1MP camera.

Are you sure about that? You can buy a RAZR here or here effectively for free, via cashback and redemptions. It might be worth a shot.
I can't recommend another phone but at least it might save you a few quid.

i dont really want a regular v3, 5.5MB, hmm

and such deals usually have a catch, like the way they dont tell you at all what the cashback deal entails...

Why no contract? You topping up £20 or more, it WILL work out more beneficial to go on a contract if you do. Plus u get a V3i-m free, or any other phone like a W810i like mine. 512 card free, i can sync it to isync now.

I hope your on O2 ;)

my sister uses her phone about the same as i expect i will and she tops up about 10 pounds every 1.5 months, a contract is not good for me

and to the other poster, i live in the uk thus i'll ebay me a handset and get a pay as you go virgin sim card.

Why are you talking about cell phones on MACRUMORS? I know it started of with a phone with iTunes, but it got a little um, deviated?

Only post questions about phones when Apple releases their iPhone!:D

tad expencive and thick, about a cm thicker than the x800 just for the camera but with the x800 i get symbian os....
