Since it seems everybody is asking about their logos, I figured I'd throw mine out there for a little feedback.

I just redesigned my identity, after using the same one since graduating college in 1999. Here it is in color and grayscale.

I'm a freelance designer working with small- to medium-sized businesses as well as agencies. I do primarily print work, but have been getting into designing websites, too, lately.

The reasoning behind the logo was to emphasize the print design aspect of my services, hence the letterpress type reference. I also wanted to keep the design tight and fairly conservative, since the businesses that I deal with are looking for more of a serious marketing firm; instead of a crazy, cheap, fly-by-night design studio.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

If I were presenting an idea to a client, I'd have a pitch prepared explaining why the design fulfills their needs. Throwing a logo up... without any context... is extremely unfair to your audience and likely undermines much of the support you might receive.

So please, while it's nice to know that this is your design business's logo, can you please fill us in on what it's supposed to say about you and why you made the choices that you did?

You are fighting an uphill battle with a name like "e j z design", sounds like a self employed designer and not a company because self employed people usually use their names or initials and then throw a "design" or "creative" at the end. To accomplish what you want I would change the name to something that is a noun and is theme-able.

I can't agree with stainlessliquid more, naming in general is a hard thing to do.

When I see "design" or "graphics" stuck after initials I generally think crowdsource and "my friend's neighbour's child" company, not to be rude.

Naming a brand is tough, but it needs to be tangible and logical, ejz could work if you just drop the "design" part, although it doesn't roll off the tongue...

I work as a Creative Director so I do work with a few smaller operators, one of the best names I've seen in recent years was by a copywriter who mainly deals with copying text and editing into a business specific type. The name was Control+C, memorable and clever (not to mention they were very good at what they did).

This logo makes me think old because of the color scheme and because of the old-style printing press type. Old, as in old-fashioned.

If I'm looking for graphics work, I'm looking for new, fresh, modern. Not old, stodgy, and outmoded.

Just my 2¢...
