I've been trying to remember the name of a pc game i played when i was in primary school. I can vaguely describe the game: it was based on a spaceship and you had to escape i think but you had to find your way to somewhere. There were keys that you had to locate to open other areas of the ship like a level 8 key i think. Rooms were locked and these keys helped you get further in. I can't remember whether there was a time limit or not. It was an aerial view, not 3d but you could see the characters detail. I don't know anything about the software at the time, it was on the school pc back in 1996-7 if that helps. You couldn't control the ship and i don't think it involved any shooting or anything like that. The teacher used it as a puzzle exercise and we all took turns to try and complete the game. I understand that it is very unlikely that anyone will be able to help me with my terrible description but i'd appreciate any ideas nevertheless. Please reply if you have any suggestions, thank you all.

Escaping from a spaceship, could be Iron Helix. There wasn't keys to locate as such, but certain pieces of DNA from crew members that allowed you to access their quarters.

Look for it at the Macintosh Garden (use Google).

I'm sure that the Defender used to cheat; it seemed to be able to move from one end of a deck to the other in about the time it took me to go 2-3 rooms...

Used to get it to follow me down to level 6 / up to level 1, then make a mad dash for the floor I wanted. Used to feel like being chased by the Terminator - "It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead."
