Check out Messages by Ma Jun. It's just a quick compose and quick reply tweak for the default messages app. I would be using it if I didn't buy BiteSMS years ago and still use it today. In my opinion its the 2nd best messages tweak after bite.

Hmmm. Have you tried 7.5? It's a great version and extremely stable.
