...I am too excited, its almost 4 in the morning and in a few hours from now I get to pick up my first macbook pro!!!

I am going to get a 15" 2.2 glossy...

I hope everything goes great and I walk home with one. *crossing fingers on no deadpixels n yellow screens*

I'll come back n post my outcome :)

Well done! i'm going to get one too, just can't decide on matte or glossy! not a single thread on the 'net can help me though, its all MATTE SUX LOL and such. None the less good luck with the new macbook pro.

Don't let the thought of defects bother you too much!

Ahhh, lucky. When did you order your Macbook Pro? I'm still waiting for mine to come I ordered the same thing.

I GOT IT I GOT IT!!!!!....

well, I forked over the cash today to buy one...

I live in the middle of orange county, California. theres like 5 stores all around me so i just hit them up before i drove there to make sure they had them....

anyways, one thing I noticed before i bought one...
When i walked into the store and saw the "yellow" tint ALL OVER the macbook pro screens ( every single one in the store) at an angle... i just realized that all of them are going to be like that, sorry folks, im pretty sure now thats the truth.

I picked glossy, and yes i have a yellow tint, only at angles...
My word about it i guess is that it looks beautiful as long as its in front of you, like it should be...

No big complaints yet... everything is spectacular!

i want to get some color pallete changes tho, anyone know how?

Depends on your needs. really. Matte doesnt suck. Thats what i have and for what i do (photo video and 3d) matte was better than glossy. Glossy have richer colors but when you need to see the "real" color go for matte. Really does depends on your needs...

Some would say matte suck cuz they got glossy. others (like me) would say glossy sucks bc of the reflective aspect ...

Well, I'm here to say MATTE. Don't bother with glossy. There, now it's not "all MATTE SUX.":) Seriously, matte is much better. I've had both (though not two Macs, but still, glossy retains its negative attributes on most screens) and I prefer the matte a lot more.

What defects? My new mbp doesn't have any. I think most people probably don't. These forums are meant for people to air their grievances, so of coarse we're going to here more bad stuff here than good stuff. Don't scare the poor guy!

At the moment i have a glossy. If i were to make the decision again I would probably get a matte display. In my opinion the colour is not that greater on the glossy and although the glare has never really bothered me at all however the one time i have tried to use the mbp outside it was impossible due to the reflections from the screen.

thats why i would go for glossy next time - no reflections (although i have never been bothered by reflections really)
and greater colour reproduction.

however saying that i do not regret having the glossy display and would be equally happy with one again if i was not given the choice between the two.

The Matte screens in direct sunlight is hard to see as well, admittiidly you will not get as much reflection but neither screen will allow perfect viewing outdoors so ths argument cannot really be used....if anything the higher appearance of color saturation on the glossy would be easier to see in sunlight...

just a quick question. i know this has been asked hundereds of times, ive never seen an actual answer tho..

you cant change the yellow tint in the calibrator in utilities folder??? does that fix it at all>?<

You are correct, except [to my knowledge] that the yellow tint issues people have been having are that straight-on, the bottom third of the screen appears to be yellow. A laptop LCD at the present is basically always going to show altered colors at the extremes of its viewing area.

If you're looking for color profiles, wade through some of the yellow tint threads and figure out which screen you have, LG or Samsung.
