Very recent...I thought I could do it when I first got my 6S, but it might have started then...not sure. Haven't made any changes to contacts or anything, and they're synced the same way they were on my 6 (Exchange). I can use Siri to text anyone in my address book....except my wife.

I'm not talking just about 'Text my wife', which also doesn't work, but not because she doesn't know who my wife is (she responds in the error with her name). It also doesn't work if I just say to text (first name) or even if I do her full name.

If I tell Siri "Text (wife's name)" I get the response "I don't have any phone numbers or e-mail addresses for (wife's name)."

Her mobile number is in her contact info, as is her iCloud e-mail address for iMessage. If I ask to see the contact info for her, she brings up the correct record with all that information. However, nothing (even deleting and adding the phone number), seems to work.

Most infuriating? If I say "Siri, text (555)867-5309" (real number omitted for obvious reasons), she'll respond with "What would you like to say to (wife's name)."

Other contacts work fine, and I can call my wife with Siri...that works fine too.

Any suggestions? Even deleting the contact and making a new one doesn't seem to work.

Ok, a quick update. I finally got Siri to text my wife, after saying "text my wife on mobile" - this results in sending an actual SMS text message. This worked, but since she has an iPhone and we use iMessage, I'd prefer to have everything be in that thread. I can force an iMessage by saying "Message my wife at her email address", and she'll do it....but if I then just say "tell my wife" or "text my wife" or whatever, I'm back to the "I don't have a phone number or e-mail address for (wife's name)." ARGHHH

This is totally bizarre. Have you tried deleting the contact, hard reseting the phone (and then maybe doing a sync with iTunes)? iPhones are getting more and more like old windows computers: when in doubt, reboot (and reboot and reboot).

I'm having exactly the same thing happening when I try to iMessage my son. All his contact info is there, but Siri tells me he has no phone number or email to send a message to. Very odd..

Have done the reboots and we aren't using the same Apple ID.

I think it's related to the fact that her number for some reason isn't recognized as an iMessage point of contact, possibly from when it took her time to activate iMessage when we swapped phones. Only her email works for iMessage even though her settings have the phone listed (but grated out). Going to update her to 9.0.2 and see if things are fixed on her end. I'm already on 9.0.2.

I had the exact same issue with my wife I deleted her contact entry and re added it and it's all sorted now. Weird bug.

I have the same problem, too. It impacts all my related accounts (wife, father, mother, brother).

I've broken and re-added the relationship links, but no effect. I'll try deleting a re-adding but that is a faff!

ETA: tried it, it didn't fix the problem in my case

Update. I have no idea what part of this solved the problem, but I did the following:

Unsynced all contacts from the phone (they're stored on Exchange)...so no contacts on the phone. Then in exchange, I deleted my wife's contact info, added a new contact with her info. At the same time, I had my wife turn off iMessage, then turn it back on and reactivate it. I then resynced my contacts. At first, I still had the same issue, but 15 minutes later, everything was back to normal and working.

Believe it or not, I had the exact same thing happen to me after the first upgrade from 8.4.1 to 9.0. I could not get SIRI to text my wife - did not have a problem with my kids. The response from SIRI is similar to yours. I double checked the contacts and her full contact info is all that - untouched since a long time ago, yet SIRI says she has no phone numbers or email addresses associated with her name.

My fix: I completely deleted my wife's contact and re added her back, and if remember the issue was still there. Then I went to settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars. In my case I am using Gmail for contacts, so I deleted the Gmail account and re added back. Problem went away.
