I can’t turn off Contacts sync in iCloud on a Mac

I’ve tried unchecking Contacts in the iCloud Systems Preferences (but the box doesn’t uncheck) and the same thing happens when I try doing it in Internet Accounts Systems Preferences. I’ve also tried turning it iCloud (by unchecking Enable) in the Contacts app account preferences but same thing.

Any tips appreciated

I am having the same issue. I was on the phone with Apple support for 90 minutes yesterday. Did a software reset but did not resolve the issue. I thought this was a problem because I have more than one iCloud account on my computer but doesn't appear to be the case. Also, the contacts from the icloud accounts are not syncing (i.e. imessages from these contacts are showing as numbers not names).

Same issue across all my Apple devices (also on iOS) Can Not uncheck contacts in iCloud settings, same Apple ID on all devices. I need to uncheck because contacts does not sync. Really annoying, I will contact Apple support soon. Any other news on the issue?

yep, I could resolve the issue for me. Try disabling screen time passcode. I installed the iOS 14 beta on one of my devices and there I got a notification that I need to disable screen time passcode, did it on all my devices and now everything works fine again

edit: only for changing the slider you need to disable the screen time code, after you can enable it again

What's your purpose to turn off it? I cannot turn off it either.

My purpose is to solve the dublicate birthday displayed in Calandar, and I archive my purpose by another way
