I have a PKG file here (bought years ago) for Remote Desktop 3.0. In Mavericks I just install it via the PKG and then update via the AppStore. I'm using Yosemite now and it's telling me the "app was bought by another user or was refunded/cancelled".

Any ideas? thanks :)

I just tested with Yosemite. Download the 3.7.2 update I linked in the previous post. Use Pacifist to extract the ARD application from the update into your Applications folder, and then open it. You'll be prompted to enter your serial number, and then ARD will work fine after that.
With this method there's no need for the original 3.0 installer at all.
