MP 1,1-5,1 I can't Upgrade macOS Sierra to High Sierra in Mac Pro 5.1 Mid 2010

Can Anyone Help

i am a new developer to xcode and need to upgrade to high sierra then Mojave after upgrading the graphic card but at least i need high sierra

I try everything

• take backup first then erase the disk
• i try fresh install from usb
• using safe mode

every time installer said to install macOS High Sierra, a firmware update is required

i called and try apple support agent they try to do best but all solutions failed

• i can't see boot menu when i press option key "i think its may cause of graphic card, is that normal?"
• i can't access internet recovery by Option-Command-R or Shift-Option-Command-R every time mac runs built-in macOS Recovery system - i try that when i try to install fresh copy from internet but it's instal sierra again

You need the original GPU (or at least a flashed card) to perform this firmware update.

Quadro 4000 is not supported, it’s a Fermi GPU.

Apple only support Kepler GPUs with Mojave - Quadro K4000 is the correct supported model.

Am stuck in sierra os, I need to upgrade at least to high sierra to support latest xcode and some programs needs at least high sierra, I can wait some time to upgrade to Mojave after upgrade card to quadro k5000,

Current Xcode requires Catalina. Anyway it’s not GPU but the Mac Pro firmware that you need to flash and you need to do with the AppleOEM GPU. 10.13.6 requires MP51.0089.B00 - read the Mojave BootROM upgrade stickie thread.

I guess High Sierra is not an option. How about this route.

Alex I snagged a deal on a Mac 2010. came with (2) Quadro 4000 Mac edition. I'm only using this Mac for raw audio tracking on Mt. Lion and nothing else. currently came with Yosemite and I plan on installing Mt. Lion.

Two questions if I may.
1. Will I have any problems installing drivers when I install Mt. Lion, or does Mt. Lion already have installers ?
2. Any benefit to having (2) cards running since I'm not doing pro graphics ?

Quadro cards would have no benefit in Audio editing.
They are pretty naff for graphics unless you have the drivers for the specific software, which is generally not the case on Mac.
'Gaming' gpu's are far better for general use.

However, since you have them you may as well use them.
MacOS should have drivers, unless you need cuda.

Two cards are useful if you have two monitors, just means less stress on each gpu.

Did some reading and I see what you mean. Doesn't fare well even against the 5870, and as you stated for video acceleration for certain Apps. One would have thought having 2gigs of ram would be a no brainer ?

One benefit of the 4000's actually, is I think they are pretty quiet, which is a bonus for audio.

You could leave one in and sell the other.
