Looks like other observers are putting together the pieces that many of us have been talking about for months. I can't hammer down enough just how important this will be to the corporate biz market. What a huge year for these guys...combine this with Xserve....and we are really hitting the new markets.

You'd think that they would go for the .com address as big as they are...but thats a great catch...if you reference one of my other posts about this software and adjoining device you will find related types of still camera / video camera / web camera devices from some fairly shady looking vendors.
I am quite sure that Apple will improve upon these pitiful starts by adding quality, pizazz, and an ipod sized hard-drive for mobile storage...

Wow, this is crazy, never knew about that. Are there any other sites that link like that? And can you be sure its an Apple thing and not just someone pointing a site to Apple because they felt like it?

With QT6 and the MPEG-4 and all it promises, this could be one of Apples biggest apps yet. iChat with video would change the way you communitcate, who wouldn't want it. What are the chances its an Apple only app?

Sharing is Caring...

And in this instance...Apple should show as little caring as possible. The software is undoubtedly going to be as uniquely theirs as ITunes...all the predictions of an IPOD for the PC sector have turned up stinkors...I would expect this to stay very close to the chest as well.

And it sure will be nice to offer as an add on...it more or less allows the use of most of the iapps in some fashion. Many people never get into imovie because they don't have a video camera to start out with...this solves that problem and is still encouraging to third parties because certainly many newbies will continue the journey to more serious hobbiests and the like.

It's a no-brainer that Apple will add video conferencing at some stage - it's not a ground breaking feature, and such functionality is already built in to XP. In fact it's one of the areas where Apple is playing catch-up. Click here for details:

I'm sure that the Apple solution will be more elegant and easy to use than the Windows one, and I looking forward to it. If Apple does introduce a portable device that integrates with their video conferencing solution, then they really will be out in front again. We'll have to wait and see.

Conferencing on XP

Having used the conferencing capabilities with some really high end equipment on both 2000 and XP. I don't consider what Apple is doing as catch-up at all. It is far more along the lines of a re-definition of what Video Conferencing is really supposed to be. I respect the fact that Apple doesn't move into areas where they really don't belong yet either because of Technology constraints or there own R+D limitations. I honestly wish they would leave SPEECH recognition controls off of OSX...because they certainly have never been ready for prime-time and they hardly begin to compete with Via Voice...which struggles in its own right.

Maybe this Camera / video / web conf. device will have a really decent built in microphone as well. We can all certainly hope!
