Back when the 9.7in iPad Pro came out I bought one right away. I enjoy flying drones and used it as my screen while flying and also to edit 4k videos and upload them to Youtube. The thing was a speedy little beast! My 2012 iMac was slow at editing 4k, the iPad Pro would fly through it with ease using Pinnacle Studio Pro. I also used it for watching movies and listening to music.

Sadly my iPad was stolen a few months after I bought it. "Long story"

I was going to buy a new one after saving some cash, but was waiting on the 10.5 to see how it would be.

Though the screen on the 10.5 is not what I was hoping for "side to side bezeless" I could not resist and though it is rather expensive I made an order for the 10.5 in gold with 512gb. I am so happy they have a 512gb version because that is more than enough space to store all my music, numerous movies and videos to edit. I am also very happy it has a whopping 4b of ram plus the new A10x chip is a speedy little beast! This new iPad will fly through my video editing even faster than the previous. I already have an Apple pencil, the SD card reader and HDMI out adapter. So I am set and dying for it to arrive on the 14th!

The 10.5 is so good, even my wife who used to love only laptops is considering buying herself a 64gb version with a smart keyboard. She can't decide on the 10.5 or 12.9 though. She will use it mainly for working on MS Excel and browsing the net. I am hoping she goes with the 12.9 so we have both sizes in our home:p

How about you guys? Could you not resist also?

I too couldn't resist, although that is often the case and I saw it coming so I sold my 9.7" Pro on eBay with an auction that ended the day before the keynote.

I love that they upgraded the screen size without increasing the size of the device too much. Before my 9.7", I had the 12.9" also and had an extremely tough time deciding which one to keep. Obviously loved the screen real estate on the 12.9", but disliked how unwieldy it can be with its relatively large footprint and weight. The 10.5" should be a great compromise, I can't wait until mine comes on Tuesday!

What where has the 4GB RAM been confirmed at ? On the 10.5" Pro ?

I love my 9.7" Pro but I need to see a few things in person like how much better is the 10.5" Display

And if Apple will swap 9.7" Pro iPad for 10.5" Pros since they discontinued the 9.7" Pro

Just not sold on the 10.5" Pro I'll need to see some side by side comparisons.

The 9.7" iPad Pro is such an important part of my daily workflow--I use it every single day for a zillion different use cases. I originally resisted the upgrade, but there were a couple of things that changed my mind:

1. I know this is silly, but I didn't want to have a discontinued iPad Pro screen size. If Apple thinks 10.5" is better suited for the Pro line, I'm trusting their judgement. They have never steered me wrong so far.

2. That 9.7" Smart Keyboard is cramped. I use it a lot, but it becomes uncomfortable for long form writing. I'm hoping this new model alleviates that issue without sacrificing portability.

3. The screen refresh rate is going to be awesome. I'm a daily Apple Pencil user, and I can't wait to give it a try at 120 hz.

4. iOS 11 looks so good--I want ALL of its capabilities. Can't get there with 2 GB of RAM.

I have been loving my 9.7" Pro since it launched, but this upgrade was too good to pass up.

I had no intention of getting an iPad Pro at all. When it was announced I was like "that's cool." But it didn't hit me all at once. As I thought about it more and more, my desire grew.

I had a self-restrained budget of $4000 since December on my iMac purchase. Well it came to $3,750. I also sold my computer for $590. So I had $840. I saw that I could get $280 for my iPad hassle free from Gazelle so I was up to $1120.

Well, the day after the keynote I was browsing Apple's site on my current Pro and I don't know what happened. I just blacked out and when I came to I had an order confirmation for the 10.5 iPad, keyboard, and cover in my Inbox.

It would have been so much work to log onto Apple's site and cancel it so I took it as a sign that it was meant to be!

Hanging with Bill Cosby is dangerous.

I have the 12.9 now and all week I have been trying the 9.7 at retailers. It is not as bad a transition as I thought given its screen size but there was no good reason for me to go to it beforehand to tell the truth.

The 10.5 will be that much better than the 9.7 with great features and specs. So, guess what? :)

The only thing is I have not see iOS 11 on the 9.7 for my review and obviously not the 10.5 either so that may be a key factor in me keeping it depending on how that goes.

Unfortantley I'm on a strict final few months of Air contract.

Resisted temptaion to pay off contract ahead of 9.7pro prchase.(UK)

I think the 9.7" Pro is dead.

Standard iPad: 7.9" and 9.7"
Pro iPad: 10.5" 12.9"

I don't see room for a 9.7" Pro in their lineup especially since the 10.5" Pro is nearly identical in dimensions.

I wonder if Apple does any Market research or a consumer research or reads and understands the psyche of an consumer before deciding that a tablet should be 10.5" and not 9.5" or do they just do it impulsively ?

I'm still holding on to my iPad 3, it works and I just can't justify paying full price for a new iPad when my existing one still works. Now if Apple were to give 50% off to previous iPad owners, that may get my attention. But otherwise I am holding tight until my existing machine is run into the ground.

I don't know what they do, but whatever it is, it works on me almost every time. :)

Nothing wrong with my 9.7, but ordered the 10.5 anyway.

Now to sell my 9.7...
Are you having any luck? I put my 9.7 on eBay yesterday and I have had zero bites. I imagine it's because it's a 32 GB with no LTE. The lower storage tiers are often harder to sell. I even bundled my smart keyboard cover and a silicon case with it. I have had looks but no bids.
