I Cried for WMA, help me make complete AAC rips

OK so I have a HUGE library of CDs that I ripped to my PC using WMP, and I used WMA (DMA tunred off) because it sounded fine to me. iTunes won't play them and you all hate me for it. My web based jukebox I wrote plays AAC just as well as it plays MP3 and WMA, Life goes on.

So I'm ripping my CDs into iTunes. Where is my Album Art? Can anyone tell me why I don't get album art? Am I doing something wrong? windows adds album art for CDs I rip
 
You automatically get album art when you buy from iTMS. Other then that as far as I know you have to enter it manually which isn't that hard since you can select multiple songs at the same time. Then again it sounds like you have alot of songs.

Oh forgot, to add artwork select the songs get info and drag and drop the artwork. I get mine from Amazon. In case you didn't know.
 
it confuses me why apple doesn't add this feature. they should really let you pull album art from their store when you buy a CD and rip it..

I guess it's a vain attempt at annoying people you illegally dowload music.

or rather, people who BUY REAL ALBUMS AT THE FRIGGIN' STORE. come on, that's a really short-sighted opinion.

Well if I buy a CD from iTMS I get the art. My wife came home from Target with the new Dido, I ripped it to add to my radio station and there was no artwork. That's when I realised that none of the music I had ripped already had no artwork (I had the covershot window closed). I know the tracks come from CDDB, but I really expected iTunes to give me the CD Art especially since I could have bought this from iTMS for my wife and burned it for the car.
I guess it's a vain attempt at annoying people you illegally dowload music.

I'm not attempting to illegally download anything. These are my 500+ CDs that I previously ripped as WMA and WMP provided the cover art via AMG. Since I have everything ripped already I can drag the images from my folders onto iTunes if a Highlight all the tracks.

I'd have to move all my music over to one of my Macs to use that apple script I guess, and since I dont have 300 gigs of space on my iMac, I won't be storing the music there. iTunes does not support network storage, so if I try to update music on the network, it copies the file to the Mac first.

you missed what i was trying to say (the distinction is kinda subtle, sorry). you don't buy CDs at iTMS, you buy albums. you don't get any CD. you can only buy CDs at amazon and stores and so on. and then you rip them. i was saying that i didn't understand why apple doesn't automatically give you the album art to these from their store when you rip them and get the track names. or some other database of album art...

We are both saying the same thing. One software package gives you the Album art when you rip a CD, while iTunes does not. We both think iTunes should step up.
 
Why not rip all your tracks to MP3 so that the next time you have a change of heart about your music library software you don't rip your hair out? It seems like you're just setting yourself up for the same problem again in the future.
 
I still rip all my cds in MP3. AAC is great, but who knows the future of it :confused:

I really hope iTunes 5 automatically adds the artwork for us. It's such a pain doing it manually. Just copy Win Media Player on this--oops did I just say copy MS :eek:

On the iTunes page there is a link to provide feedback to Apple about iTunes. If everyone who wants a feature politely suggests it to Apple, it will get looked at and prioritized according to a number of factors. Multiple people requesting it is one factor. Ease and legality of implementation is another.
 
Use mostly free third party software to menu-control iTunes like Synergy (look it up at VersionTracker). They will automatically retrieve art covers on amazon and download them into their folder. You still have to move them into the art cover window of iTunes manually, however. I am not aware of any software that transfers art covers automatically.
