Turns out your all right and I still have all my characters and my account :S its all fine now :) s'ept a crazy installation / patching process and a few password issues.

You could try talking to Blizzard support, they may be able to retrieve the account from server backups (and likely at a cost), other than that, I doubt it mate :(

Bugger :(
I played WoW ages ago and quit but i've recently got back into gaming so I wanted to play again but seeing as all my characters have gone and most of the WoW starting areas are empty now there doesn't seem to be much point.

How did you delete your account? usually when you quit wow you just stop paying a subscription. If you re-activate the same account by restarting the sub all your chars should still be there on the same servers you left them.

What do you mean by 'delete'? It doesn't matter anywho because Blizzard explicitly says that characters are never deleted unless you do it yourself. They always reside under your account name.

Unless your account is deleted for violating the TOS/EULA.

I would debate the point about empty starting areas though, I starting playing WoW less than a month ago and it's really quite active on the server I play (Azuremyst-EU). That being said, I played Star Wars Galaxies for the best part of 3 years, so our definitions of 'populated' may well differ! :D

Btw, what's 'updoc'? ;) classic Scrubs.

The starting areas are not empty...:p Yes they are lightly traveled but you can usually put a group together to go do something like Deadmines. I've done it in the last 2 months.

Congratulations!!! Now you can play a real game and get Guild Wars:D

I have Guild Wars, i've finished all the campaigns and have god knows how many level 20's.

World of Warcraft kicks the crap out of it in every aspect except maybe graphics.

They are pretty empty haha, the Burning Crusade starting ares are dead!
The human starting are is alright though I suppose.

I rolled a new Blood Elf Mage on the weekend (I have a lvl 80 Draenei healadin as well but wanted to try my hand at running a "glass cannon") and there were about 15 people in the starter zone. It is an RP server so they were all acting ... odd (I'm not sure why there was a Tauren dancing with a Dwarf by the pond in the newbie zone, but I was definitely not going to ask)... but that may also have something to do with the number of lowbies running around. So try an RP server, perhaps?

Also, installing the questhelper addon makes a huge difference when levelling a new character. It is so efficient that just stopping to hit the trainer once in a while seems like a massive waste of time and you barely notice the other players as you sprint from quest to quest. Not advised if you're new to the content - slow down, have fun - but if you're just grinding through the original content so as to get to the new stuff it is fantastic.

LOL! There's always some messed up crap going on in the BE starter zone. I remember when I started a troupe of naked human males wearing only helmets having a tour of the zone...
