I accidentally clicked on the top left of a movie, the X, instead of the top right to download and now its gone from my list. Can I recover that item to re-download?

I deleted something from the Purchased items, can I recover it.

Depends. Did you purchase it from the iTunes Store? If yes, you can re-download all you want. May need to enable the ability to show all cloud purchases.
All you did was hide it. Login to your iTunes account and you can unhide it again.
