I was up 3am this morning checking out Craigslist and a guy wanted to do a even trade for a iPhone 5s for his Note 3 because his wife could not handle the size. The entire trade went excellent and he even had a nice case to go along with it. Phone is in brand new condition and he had everything that came with it. I now find myself trying to get use to such a big phone again. :D
After being with Android for many years I wanted to try a iPhone 5s. Since launch I just did not feel right about iOS/iPhone in general and I was reluctant to buy any apps. I never felt that I wanted to be part of the Apple iOS ecosystem.
But I will miss the excellent customer service Apple provides in the stores and online. I did feel comfortable knowing that if I had a warranty issue I could just visit a Apple store and leave working. And I will miss the resell value of the iPhone. The Note 3 has already started to tank in price and by next year I might not even get $300 for it.

The Note 3 is a phenomenal device, but I understand your concerns. I could barely get $250 for my Note 2 back in September

I sold mine for the same price and that was with the official spare battery and charger, 2 cases and glass screen protector. Phone actually still has warranty till 11/30. I guess it's something that we have to live with.

Really? I sold my Note II for $350 when I upgraded to the Note 3.

Was it a Verizon model? I was told that Verizon Note 2 models are not as valuable as their gsm counter parts. But what's funny is that the Verizon iPhone 5S is the better model because it comes carrier unlocked even if under contract. I checked out t-mobile prepaid a week ago and it works

I know exactly what you mean, ever since trading away my S4 for an iPhone 5 I find that I rarely invest in apps. I believe gMusic 2 is the only app I've purchased since and it's not like I don't want to, It's just that I tend to use my Note 3 way more. I could be using tapatalk on the iPhone and then I'll immediately switch over to the Note 3 because the smallish peck n go keyboard and small screen annoy me to no end. At this point the iPhone is really just used for the occasional iMessage and as a music player.

It was an unlocked AT&T model. Sold it for 350 just to cover the cost of the Note 3 upgrade.

Lol nice trade but he ripped you off big time. The 5S is worth a good chunk more than the Note 3.

I'm so busy enjoying my smartphones, the last thing I care about is resale. Allowing that to dictate which phone I buy is a terrible compromise.

When I'm done with a phone I get much more satisfaction from giving them to family or a friend that needs a phone.

If I was forced to worry about resale in order to buy the next model, I'd question my financial position.

Good choice. I went from an iPhone 5 to an S4 this past April. And just this past week, from the S4 to the Note 3. Best decision ever. Best phone I've ever owned. Ever. F resale value.

I would say it's even for right now. But come next year then yes; I would have wanted more. But just controlling every tv and stereo in the house has become priceless. I bought a $7 universal remote control app in the first 4 hours of owning the Note compared to not spending anything in the Apple store for the last 2 months.
But Apple has been consistent in updating ios; I will give them that.

It's a nice gimmick but eventually you'll come to realize that core function reliability > IR Blaster.

I can sell like-new condition iPhone 5S's for $600+ all day.

I would not pay anywhere close to a Galaxy device of any kind.

He made off with a much better trade, but enjoy the Note 3. You could have paid for a Nexus 5 and an LTE Nexus 7 if you sold your 5S.

When you have a Note 3, you don't really need a phone AND a tablet unless you want a 10 inch tablet. Its the best of both :) I'll take my Note 3 any day over any Nexus device.

Tbh as a phone the Note 3 is just to big stick a case on it & it looks bigger still. :(
One of my mates has just bought a Note 3 & when it stuck to his ear it just looks plain daft.

I recently got shut of my S4 or a 5S as i wanted a "phone" that was easy on my pocket & didn't gain unnecessary attention when using it out & about & still have very decent amount of functionality & a brilliant camera, the 4" screen is perfect & i hope Apple doesn't make it much bigger when it comes to the iPhone 6.

All my Android needs are now purely with the Nexus 7 2013, so I'm missing out on nothing & have best of both worlds. :D

You can go ahead and tell me how I'm wrong but you can't deny that apps on a screen that big look disproportionate when most of them are designed for 4"-5" at the most. So much wasted space on nothing. You have Android's wonderful scaling to thank for that.

Since you have a Note 3. Lets see a side by side comparison of this issue.

I didn't say I had one, I said we have one. As in my family; my dad, specifically.

I'm not making you a video because I couldn't care less what you do or don't believe. The Note 3 is a silly under designed thought, but don't let me saying that disturb your digging session.

That whole mentality of "company X can do no wrong" is dumb and it needs to go away.

I gave valid reasons why the Note 3 fails where it does, and all you've given back is "lol comparison don't believe you what."

Oh and one more thing: I'd like you to, in point form, tell me how I hate Samsung even though I've owned one of their phones from almost every generation. The only thing I'm bashing here is that idiotic Note 3.

a better place
OP ignoring other peoples opinions as they simply do not count for anything here at the end of the day as it was 'your trade' 'your decision'.....

If you got the phone you want, and the person you traded with got what they want, then it was a good trade for you.

Enjoy your phone.

I'm just saying, stepping aside from my opinion of the Note 3 itself, OP, you probably should have sold the 5S and with that money bought a Note 3. Would have saved a bit.

If you're happy that is all that matters.

Though, I personally wouldn't have made that trade.
