Where the air is crisp
I know I shouldn't, maybe I spent too much time working on the actual game, maybe I am beyond help... but from the few fonts I have (sacrilegious), CS didn't seem like a bad choice for our 'temporary' website:

http://www.gameresort.com/

Since I don't have much time to work on the web design (handling all the ingame graphics and level design), I was going to use Helvetica to be on the safe side, but it just seemed a little 'stiff' for this particular site... can anybody recommend a better font?

Thanks!

Well if you're really worried about web designers and font-philes breaking down your door to get to you I suggest having a copy of Helvetica in you DVD player ready to go; it should distract them long enough for your to make your escape. :)

Unfortunately I couldn't even try your game out... the admins at work removed our permissions to download java/flash players.

I'll leave the font suggestion to others, but Arial seems to be a non-offensive font for most.

Who gives a crap? It just depends on what you're doing. I hate people who say you can't use comic sans. That tells me they have no imagination. I've been in the ad business for over ten years, don't tell me what I can't use. If it works, I'm damn well going to use it.

You tell 'em Lee!

I think Comic sans is a fine font for titles and exclamations and short statements. It just bugs me when people set their font on their blackberry to comic sans, or as the font they use for essays.

Well yeah, that's annoying just because it's not really meant for that. It's difficult to read when it's smaller.

Hey Reid, thanks for the tip! I was going to build a trap out of a discarded NY subway sign, but your idea seems more practical :p

Leekohler, TuffLuffJimmy: you are right, and I don't REALLY mind using CS (I just did), I just like to post in a self depreciating tone :D

In the end, I will probably have to resort to Arial/Helvetica for the main text for practical reasons, but do you know of any font that might work better for headlines/tag lines on that gameresort page?

cheers

What are you using in that tab that says "games"? That's not bad.

It is Arial Black... would this be better?

I won't be dissing you for using Comic Sans. I say, if you recognize it's over-use, realize it's detractions, and yet chose it anyway since it matched your design method in this particular case - Bravo for flying in the face of what people say. :)

Every typeface has it's place. Check that: Every Typeface Has It's Place.

My sentiments exactly.

You guys are all crazy.

Comic Sans? No way!

Replace anything with Arial Black? Never!

I'm off to watch my Helvetica DVD again. :apple:

Relax, Play A Game. or Relax, play a game. or Relax, Play a Game.

I'm no copywriter, but the punctuation and case-use seems to need tweaking. I guess it depends on what you want to say. Are you relaxing and playing a game or are you wanting to relax by playing a game?

Comic Sans was fine the way it was, and probably would look better if it was a hair larger or with some added tracking.
