Hi,

Am I an idiot or what??? I've been trying to set up my PC to get files from there to my Mac. If I didn't have the Switching to the Mac book, I'd still be in cyberspace. Is the technique printed somewhere on line or somewhere on the .mac site???

Frank

all you need is to go to the .mac site and download the .mac utility for windows, make sure you have xp though, doesnt work with anything before that, not even 2000.

If you have Win2k or 98, you can access the iDisk with "Web Folders"

From Apple:

""
You can open your iDisk using Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows 98.

If you're using Windows XP, use iDisk Utility for Windows to open your iDisk. To download iDisk Utility for Windows, go to www.mac.com, click the iDisk icon, and then click the iDisk Utility download link.

If you're using Windows 2000, open My Computer, choose Map Network Drive from the Tools menu, then click "Web folder or FTP site." Enter the following as the location to add: http://idisk.mac.com/membername (where "membername" is your .Mac member name). Use your .Mac member name and password for authentication.

If you're using Windows 98, open My Computer, double-click the Web Folders icon, then double-click Add Web Folder. Enter the following as the location to add: http://idisk.mac.com/membername (where "membername" is your .Mac member name). Use your .Mac member name and password for authentication.

However, if you are looking to transfer files directly, you can do this too by connecting both machines to a hub with Ethernet. Then, in the Mac, go to System Preferences/Sharing/Services tab

Activate Personal File Sharing, then Windows File sharing.

You need to set up your Windows machine with shares connected to the folders you wish to share - you can chooose to leave the passwords blank.

Back on the Mac, hit cmd-K to connect. You should see the Windows machine. Connect to it, enter a password, and it will let you in.

I hope this helped!
