I just can’t use anything other than apple MacBooks.

As soon as I see it or open other laptops than Apple I just refuse. I just start experiencing how bad rest of the industry is.
I had a asus zenbook powered blue that was incredible last October, .....out performed my MacBook M1
someone else wanted that really bad this February, $300 more than I paid.

I use a MacBook M1 now as my racing bike has better $300 parts!

win-won-LOSE?

As far as build/design quality, yes. Nothing will match the Apple aesthetic.

For gaming and dev work, I'll lean on windows only because I need the Nvidia Cuda Cores. Other than that, the MacBook is my #1.

Then you really haven't given the other laptops a chance as you have by your own admission, not used the other machines. Your choice, but your judgement is significantly biased. I have used many other laptops, Windows based, and a few of them were quite good. As good as anything Apple has produced. I know many people who would say the same about using an Apple product.

you are correct. I went to see pc laptops and they were horrid in comparison. I was shocked by the cheap plastics. That being said there are macbook similar options. Microsoft Surface seems a nice option.

I'm the same. Not a single Windows machine I've tried out there feels as nice (especially the touch pad area). Apple just really nails these things.
The biggest issue with the the Windows touchpad seems to be 'tap to click'. I turned that setting on on my MacBook, and was immediately "Ew, feels like a PC trackpad". Now when I have to use a windows PC I know what setting to turn off to make the trackpad less hyper-sensitive and more usable... still, I tend to have a mouse connected to Windows laptops at all times, while I've never even considered it on a MacBook.

I prefer MacBooks too, but have used some decent Windows laptops over the years for work, and owned one Asus laptop that was a great alternative for a lower price than what Apple was offering at the time.

I mean sure... most of my work gigs since ~1999 have dealt Dell laptops (which I definitely do not like).

The trackpads on them are ginormous/get in the way, keyboards are mush crapola and the (Winblows) OS has not done itself any favors

I finally get to use a Mac again at the day job and remain externally grateful!!

I'm very happy to have an MacBook at work.
I was able to buy my old MacBook M1 Pro from them after I received my new one.

i would switch to windows in a heart beat since I can control my Asus Zenbook.
or i can use my macbook air 2010 11" since this is out performing my M1.
this week I am having too many music, homepods and adjustment problems with the M1. this was the case with Monterrey as well.
and i need a minute to open the lid enter the passcode then wait for tahoe to launch.
while Snow Leopard is instant as in seconds.

oh well......

Oh same here.

The funny one recently was I got given a high end Dell Precision at work. They tried so hard to make it Apple quality but screwed up nearly everything on it slightly. This was to the point the thing wouldn't even come out of the box properly because the box was poorly designed.

Other problems: fan on all the time, reflective coating on screen like a mirror so I can't run windows in dark mode, won't sleep properly and wakes up in my bag, windows hello doesn't work if the lights are on, speakers sound like someone farting in a bin, keyboard is soggy as hell, one of the USB-C ports didn't work out of the box, blue and orange on the display are ****ed, it rattles if you shake it and if you plug it into the supplied dell dock it disconnects every 2-3 minutes. Edit: checked. Dell Precision 5690, Core Ultra 7, 64G RAM, OLED panel.

Given that the vast majority of Windows laptops fall into one of three categories (cheap junk, heavy gaming rigs with massive PSUs, and over priced "thin" models that lack ports or other features), I don't think they were too far off the mark there. I have tried a LOT of Windows-based laptops over the years, and most of them can't even tie the MacBook's shoelaces due to build quality, features, noise/heat, OS or other factors.

Counterpoint: I blame Apple for the low-travel/chiclet keyboard trend (they weren't the first, but they popularized it). If Apple hadn't done this, then it would probably still be possible to buy a laptop with a decent keyboard in 2025.

I haven’t had a windows laptop for years.. Do they still come with those stupid processor stickers plastered on the laptop out of the box?!

The MacBook is my favourite Apple device. However, I think macOS is going backwards in many respects.

As soon as someone copies the notebook format with decent specs and trackpad I’ll probably start using Linux more.
