So I have a shiny new MPB. But I've been having troubles connecting to the internet. The desktop PC uses a LAN, and I've tried to set up a network to no avail. It uses a router to connect. The ethernet simply won't work. I've tried doing it manually but no reaction. Help please!

so why exactly do you not deserve an mbp?

anyway, are you trying to make a connection through the pc to the router, or through the router?

How does it "not work" I don't get how it "doesn't work" :p

In simple steps (as far as I can tell)

1. Make sure you have a internet connection *present*
2. Make sure the ethernet cable is securely placed in both MBP and router/ modem
3. Start up and try to connect!

I've had all sorts of ISP's - dial up, cable, fixed wireless etc. and this has always worked. I know the advice sounds stupid and simple (It is somewhat  ;) )

* This is assuming you have an "always on" highspeed connection
Hope it helps! :)

P.S - It's always fun to look at the network pane in sys. pref's! :)
