Title is only half-serious...

I am going to be purchasing my first ever Macbook this week. I like the Sky Blue, but I do not like the border/bezel around the screen. I've used a 16"+ screen for about 9 years (with black bezel). The Air is only 15", which already is much smaller, but combined with the border it will look even smaller.

I would just purchase the Midnight colour, but I'd prefer a change from my current one which is all black everywhere. And apparently it's a fingerprint magnet...

So, are there any suggestions to what I could do with the Sky Blue to get rid of the bezel/border?

Is one long stroke of a sharpie an awful idea...? (Of course with tape etc)

Thank you.

The midnight M4 is supposedly less of a fingerprint magnet from what I've read of user reviews. Rather than gum up a sky blue with tape, I say give midnight a shot and put away your Sharpie ;)
I did get handprints all over my space black MacBook Pro, but only if I hold it a lot longer and I clean it off with screen cleaner.

Don’t cheapen your Mac by doing these touch up marks with the sharpie. Get a screen protector that covers the coloured border

Strong consensus online seems to be to not touch these, and that even Apple advise against them (but don't, say, advise against a phone case)
Only if you get the removable one that you can pop it off when it’s time to close the MacBook Air lid or clean the screen. These have magnets

I didn't quite follow this: is it better to buy a magnet one, or without a magnet? I hadn't even considered a cover due to the aforementioned reason

Not a case, man…

It’s the screen protectors that are magnetically attached. That’s what I’m talking about here as they have dark borders on them:

I’ve noticed something now.

Even though my ex Apple employee friend shared a video below 👇 that humorously stated the same thing as the link you provided, and still promoted certain accessories like cases for the MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, I don’t use any of them 😂. My friend partially disagrees with it as he still prefers using a case if you are rough with your Mac or the screen protector.

The purpose of this video is to discourage viewers from using these accessories. However, in my opinion, it’s acceptable to use screen protectors sometimes as long as they’re removable with magnets and can be removed before the MacBook Air lid closes. The same applies to keyboard covers.
