I totally forgot I had them on, I bent over the pool to untangle my Polaris and they both came off. My airpods pro never fall out of my ears, but for some reason they did. I panicked and scooped them up with my leaf scooper, it wasn't easy to do, took a few tries, I did not want to go in to get them. I dried them off, tried them on and the right one made a high pitch whistle. I put them back in the charging case, they're charging fine. iPhone sees them, I think they're ok. After about an hour in the charging case, I did the fit test, and it's sounds normal and sealed in both ears. Whew!!!

Moral of the story: Do not think to wear your airpods in, around, or near a swimming pool.

Glad that they seem to have escaped disaster.

I hate to say this, but if they were in a very chlorinated pool, you may want to rinse them with clean water. That chlorine will eat away at things.

I have the AirPods 2 and washed and dried mine in the case on accident. Worked fine after that.

I also went in a pool with them in thinking I wouldn't get them wet....well I did stupidly. Work fine.

Not sure what the long term diagnosis is, but short term they've been fine and have 0 ill effects.

I know these aren't APPs, but im sure the tech isn't that different.

Side note: After washing them I put them into a bag of DampRid which is calcium chloride and used to remove moisture from rooms. Maybe that was the saving grace.

I just put them on this morning, the high pitch noise from the right airpod is gone now. I just did a fit test and it seems ok now, thank god. Good thing I did get apple care for these though.

And honestly I dont know if they have water sensors in them. Not trying to defraud Apple and make a claim that theyre working and hiding it'd due to water damage, but I doubt they'd rip them apart, melt the glue, etc to test the water sensors (if there are any.)
