I expect bad things

Yesterday, I thought icloud could really be the sync I needed. Until it destroyed all my contacts in Outlook for the PC and put them all in the cloud. I had two experiences with mobilme loosing all my contacts and it was a pure PAIN. Since icloud puts all your contacts in the cloud and leaves non locally in Outlook, I expect a major outpouring of grief the first time icloud goes down and folks realize they have no contacts on the ipads, iphones and in outlook.

Since MM used to delete most if not all of my contacts, and even duplicate them from time to time for no good reason I made it a habbit to back them up once a week or so into an archive just in case. I have had to use that back up a few times, so it may be a good idea to do this on occasion now too. iCal too.

I'm a complete Apple fanboy, but I don't trust their web endeavors. No one beats their hardware, OSes, and native apps. When it comes to web apps and services, however, I just don't feel they get it.

I'm sticking with google to do most of my syncing.

I REALLY hope you are correct, I just don't want to be the test subject.
As I read through this forum, I see many more issues popping up than I expected, and many of them are similar to issues I have had in the one day I tried icloud.
I have other separate issues that complicate the issue for me but at this point, while I have great hopes for what Apple is trying to accomplish, I have deep gut feelings that I might want to wait for the first big update to this before I jump back in.
I wish everyone luck in going to the cloud, but me? I'm going to watch from the sidelines for a while. This whole iCloud thing isn't going as well as I had hoped it would.

I read about this before, and apparently all the contacts had been found residing in the trash. So look there and see if you can't restore them...

Well, I wish I had known this before I did all the other stuff I did. My contacts are back but it was interesting to note that there is no "deleted contacts" folder in my Outllook mail tab. And they are not in the recycle bin nor the deleted mail folder. So where DID those deleted contacts go?
