Hey Guys! I finally upgraded my PB to a MBP and I'm planning on bootcamping it once I get my XP replacement disc in the mail. I've been away at sea for a long time when it comes to PC gaming and I want to pick up a first person shooter or similar (3/4 over the shoulder Gears of War type stuff is great as well!) and marvel at how far we've come from my last game for a PC, Half Life ONE!

I've got the 2.4Ghz Santa Rosa revision. I've heard a lot about FEAR, Crysis, and Half Life 2.

So what would you guys say is the best FPS to come out in the last 3 years?

In summary-

Quake 4- Dissapointment.
Doom 3- IMO quite good, but not as much as the classic Dooms. A good thriller though.
Prey- okay until the end.
Half Life 2- I'm sure god made this.
Farcry- Starts out great but sort of loses itself as it becomes obvious it was a graphics demo shoehorned into a full game. Everything but the gameplay is great.
Crysis- not out yet, but looks damn fine.

You can not go wrong with Half Life 2.

Word. Thanks, I'll be picking Half Life 2 up this week.

Anyone else want to put their 2 cents in?

I was in the same boat as you. When I first got my Intel Mac I asked my game playing buds what the best games of last few years had been. Ended up buying:
- Half Life 2
- Fear
- Far Cry
- Tomb Raider: Legend
- Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

I play Counterstrike: Source once in a while, and it's still good.

I don't use windows to run it though - too bloated and I just don't have the room on the mac to make a second partition. Check sig. :)

Condemned is a good game if you can get past the fact that after 10 hours of gameplay you'll never touch it again.

Fear
Call of Duty 2
Call of Duty 3

Best FPSs out at the moment if you ask me.

You liked Call of Duty 3? I really didn't like it. COD2 is much much better, and the only one worth waiting for os COD4 which actually looks very good.

I really enjoyed playing Doom III and Quake 4, both great games in my opinion. Another game that I really enjoy (albeit not a FPS game) is Command & Conquer 3. :)

Enjoy your new 2.4GHz MacBook Pro heatasmallhouse! :)

Hey instead of FPS try some strategy games. Check out the demos for Medieval II Total War and Company of Heroes. And of course Starcraft 2 when it comes out.
