After a year of making no large purchases whatsoever, my MacBook Pro has arrived. It's the 15-inch, 2.16GHz, 1GB, 120GB model, by the way. I just have a few quick questions.

1. When is the new OS coming out and how much will it be to upgrade?

2. What factors influence battery life?

3. I noticed I'm already down to 60GB on my hard drive. I have about 25GB of media, so where is all this space going? Could it possibly be the iLife suite?

Thanks.

1) Some time this spring. Nobody knows for sure. I assume the prices will be similar to the Tiger, which you can check on the apple site.

2) Airport, screen brightness, bluetooth, DVD, cpu usage

3) The system itself takes up quite a lot of space. You can strip it down. For exapmle deleting all the printers, Garageband, if you don't need it etc.

Grats on your purchase.

There are no deadlines but i think around June like liketom said.

2. What factors influence battery life?

The brightness of your screen plays a role in this, turning in down a little bit helps a lot. If you watching a DVD while the DVD is in your laptop that will take a lot of power, its best to rip them then watch them if the battery life is a factor.

3. I noticed I'm already down to 60GB on my hard drive. I have about 25GB of media, so where is all this space going? Could it possibly be the iLife suite?

You can download some software that will show you what is take how much space. The two softwares i recommend are Whatsize and Disk inventory x. If you will never use garage band or imove you can delete 3GB worth of stuff as well as the languages and printer drivers which take some space.

Whatsize can be found here: http://www.id-design.com/software/whatsize/
Disk inventory x can be found here: http://www.derlien.com/
