So, after a good bit with the new wireless intuos 4, I can easily say it was completely worth the upgrade from my intuos 3.

The bluetooth works flawless and reconnects almost instantly when waking from sleep.

The battery is GREAT. The book says 18 hours but so far I'm 4 hours over that on this charge.

The surface is not near as rough as people are making it sound and I have yet to see any wear on my nibs. I was concerned about that because for once I fell for "internet hype" but so far I'm not seeing this wear and tear on the nibs everyone is talking about.

The customizable keys are great, and the scroll wheel is genius. It is insanely useful.

The lightup keys that have the shortcuts labeled on them is great.

The only downside is that my 6D artpen doesn't work with it (supposedly, I actually never got to try). It makes me sad. I LOVE the 6D art pen.

All in all a completely worthy upgrade. I'm so glad to have a wireless tablet now :)

I am hungry for an intuos 4 myself, it is top of my list of consuming desires, though i am still deciding whether to go for the wireless or the Large version, tricky weighing up the value of active area vs non-attachment. A question for pen/zen masters perhaps.

That is great. I kind of want one but refuse to debug all the pens I have. One thing you didn't mention was the responsiveness. How is it? Any lag?

I just got one as well.

I only notice lag when something BT intensive is going on (i.e. sending a photo from my phone to the laptop) but then all is fine. I use it while paired to a BT Keyboard and neither lag with day to day stuff.

Love the wireless ness. It doesn't move from my desk much, but being able to pick it up hold it i my arms really helps things.

Have you tried a bamboo multitouch and pen tablet and how would you compare the two? I don't currently use a tablet to design but there have been a few times i wish i had more control than using a mouse. I've heard of a lot of designers who were supprised at how good the bamboo was compared to the intuos and thought it would be better to try a bamboo to see if i would get much use from a tablet.

I'm a graphic designer working in web and print and don't do any photo-retouching so don't think i need the billion levels of pressure sensativity and i don't need wireless as i was put off that after using the bluetooth mightymouse and how slow and unresponsive it was.

The Intuos line is more for painting and drawing (I do a bit of logo and custom icon work). Bamboo should be fine for anything else.

I haven't noticed any lag at all. I'm traveling at the moment so I don't have it with me and I miss it :( I mailed it to myself so it'll meet me at my final destination :)

I haven't noticed the extreme nib wear either that people are complaining about and I do a lot of heavy scribbling. I have no talent in drawing or painting what-so-ever but I absolutely love to make scribbles and doodles in painter. (Expensive I know but I don't care :D )

I ordered the new art brush too. I'm hoping I like it as much as my old art brush.

Also I use mine with a 24 inch monitor and a 15 inch monitor. (My laptop set to extended desktop to my ACD). The button to switch between monitors is GREAT. I find the size of the tablet is perfect too for that screen size.

never understood the point of a wireless tablet. I have a wired intuos 4. it doesnt move from its position. goes in my lap bag. comes out and plugs into laptop in which again it doesnt move. its not even good for rotating the tablet because it has a wheel so there is no need to.

neat novelty i guess but completely worthless.

Nuff said.

Hardly worthless, I love sitting on my couch with the wifi Intuos drawing on my 42" flat screen!

if you are in a teaching environment you don't have to be strapped to a desk and you have just freed up one of your USB ports. Provided you have a port left. You don't have to be connected which means you can move to another location while working on your tablet.

smh that's like saying a cordless phone is useless. Where would you be without a wireless cellphone.

Definitely not worthless. I'm left handed and the cord goes to the left to the only place on my desk the computer can sit. When I do anything I often yank at the cord with my arm by accident and have several times almost ended up ripping the plug out.

Oooh, I so want one!!

I've got wired Intuos 4, the wireless one didn't exist when I got mine IIRC. Seems crazy to not buy a wireless one these days...the price jump is minimal and you've got the best of both worlds!
