My Mobileme subscription was going to expire on June 22th, now I just logged into my account and to my surprise says:
Your subscription has been extended until Jun 30, 2012, at no additional charge.
How cool is that? after that I don't know what is going to happen. Time will tell.
That is way Apple has a loyal user base!

They extended your account with something that is going to be free and you are happy about it? I just renewed my family account less than a month ago and am honestly pretty upset that it appears I will get nothing in return. :(

My subscription was renewed in Jan 24th... (through a nice $30 Amazon box). I hope I get same deal come Jan 24th, 2012.

Best case scenario is that you were set to expire today. Mine just auto-updated five days ago. $99 out the window. Oh well!

Just did, it is in fact extended. Now the guessing game begins. What becomes of us or our stuff if we have more than the usual allotted space? Family accounts? Accounts with extended space?

Family accounts are the thing that concerns me the most: We've got a family pack for e-mail, etc but all iTunes / App Store / MAS purchases go through my iTunes ID. I'm hoping you can connect to multiple accounts and have different ones for your e-mail and purchases otherwise it's not going to work for me (and, I guess, a lot of other people). The other thing that didn't get mentioned is the shared space of family packs.
I was hoping iCloud would save me the $30 a month we spend on 3 dropbox accounts, but with only 5GB available and no mention of shared space or space increases, I don't think it will.

On the free extension, I'd have preferred a free iTunes match account for the remaining period of my subscription rather than extending it to the end of June...

My MM Family account was due to expire in 2 days. I just went into my account info and have the one year extension so I'm super happy about that. I'll be curious to see what happens with my other 2 family email addresses, etc...

What will happen to the content I have on MobileMe?
Apple has announced a new service called iCloud which will be available this fall and free for iOS 5 and OS X Lion users. When you sign up for iCloud, you'll be able to keep your me.com or mac.com email address and move your MobileMe mail, contacts, calendars, and bookmarks to the new service.

When iCloud becomes available this fall, more details and instructions will be provided on how to make the move.
Can I create a new MobileMe account?
You can no longer create a new 60-day trial account or start a new subscription using a code contained in a MobileMe box. However, if you have a Family Pack subscription, you can still create new family member accounts.

Can I upgrade to a Family Pack or purchase additional storage?
Effective June 6, 2011, you can no longer upgrade your Individual account to a Family Pack or purchase additional storage for your MobileMe account.

I purchased a MobileMe box and have not used the activation code inside. Can I get refund for it?
Yes. If you have an unused activation code from a MobileMe box, you can submit a refund request.

Also as of today, you cannot add, remove or edit your existing .me aliases.
It will be editable with iCloud later this year.

I was pissed I lost an eBay bid fir MobileMe family pack last night. I bid up to $95. The winner outbid me by $1.

My renewal was July 20th 2011.

Now I feel like I "saved" at least $95 cause I would have been out of luck even with inactivated code since it was eBay purchase and apple doesn't honor it.

I had read in this forum about 10 weeks ago that Apple's upcoming service improvement was going to be free and that it would be announced in a few weeks. I went ahead and signed up for the 60 day free trial and about a week ago I got the prompt that I would be charged $99. I didn't stop the payment as i was hoping that I would get some credit on the new service, not a year of the expiring service.

Apple why don't you give me -- your most loyal customer -- a free year of the new match service when it becomes available?

I guess i missed my window by two weeks.

OK, there's one thing that's still really confusing me. Forgive me if this is obvious or if it has been answered before, but, the services of MobileMe are either going free in the fall or getting replaced by something else that's free. So, why did they extend our accounts to next summer? Like, why bother, since they'll just change over when iCloud debuts in a few months?
