I've been running a 2014 MBP 13" on Yosemite for a few months and the notes app would never fully sync to my iPhone or iPad.

Sometimes it would sync the first sentence, sometimes the whole thing, and sometimes nothing. It's not a settings issue. It does sync everything perfectly about 1 in 5 times.

Things I've tried:

1) I only have 1 iCloud account. This is is not about syncing the wrong accounts.

2) I've turned off iCloud and turned it on on all 3 devices. Mixed results. Sometimes it sees the new notes, sometimes it doesn't. It's totally random.

3) I reformatted my Mac. Same issue.

My solution:
Having to sit there and make sure that little sentence updated properly is ridiculous. I just moved to a 3rd party app that syncs instantly with a similar ease of use. This and Apple maps I've completely given up on. Am I the only one?

dyt1983 - that's a very interesting discovery. I'll have to give that a try. I always CMD Q out as well.

Liam555 - I'm using SimpleNote as a replacement right now because it syncs well across all my devices. I've moved all my notes there and plan to revisit Apple notes at a later date.

Sorry to hear, weird. For me it updates almost instantly if i change something either on the phone or computer. My phone is not connected to a WiFi just a carrier.

Read the article linked above and it sounds like a bit of a mess.

I found this piece, giving a developer's perspective on iCloud syncing, enlightening:
The Gathering Storm: Our Travails With iCloud Synch

Interesting article, thanks for the link.

I've given up on iCloud sync a long time ago, when trying to sync Daily Notes through it. iCloud is a mess, like it's parents and greatparents (remember MobileMe?).
SimpleNote is a good alternative IMHO. And Dropbox for real storage "just works"

Must admit I've never had a problem with Notes, but I don't quit it on the MBP or iMac, its one of those apps I just leave running. Normally I just switch between apps with CMD-Tab.

Anyone have room on this boat for 1 more? iCloud Notes syncing just fine for a while and all of a sudden it stopped a few weeks ago. I can't pinpoint the exact time but remember changing something from my work Mac and then trying to pull it up on my iPhone & iPad at home and couldn't find it.

I've deleted & re-setup iCloud on my work Mac and all the iCloud notes that were there are gone. <semi panic ensues> I definitely do not have any Notes on my Mac, just iCloud Notes. My Exchange Notes are also syncing fine. Contacts, Reminders, etc...everything else on my Mac syncs fine.

On my iPhone, I turned off Notes and then turned it back on. All the Notes returned. But the new iCloud note I made on my Mac after I turned it back on does not show up. Something is definitely wrong here. I'm not sure what else to try to get my Notes to start syncing again.

I don't mind using a different kind of notes account to sync but how do I even change that on my iPhone since that's the only place they are now?

Here
I've never had issues, but I close the app, I don't quit it precisely because it syncs in the background.

This is not something that has ever been a problem before the current issue. I closed it all the time but it would still sync.

Side Note: my MBA is syncing notes just fine, even when I quit the app or it is closed. So it must be something on that particular Mac. I may reformat to see what going on.

Just an FYI, I have not had any problems sychning notes from my iMac to my iPhone and iPad. I did some updating yesterday plus added a few new notes from my iMac and saw them instantly change on my iPhone and iPad.

Hope you get it worked out.

I have been running the 10.10.3 beta since it was offered to the public.
