Hello all, I need some help....

I upgraded to a iPhone 13 Pro yesterday from a iPhone 8plus and I have backed up and synced with my iMac via USB cable (running OSX Monterey 13.3.1) and I am struggling to sync my photos from Photos app and my music library. I have done lots of google searches and its all too confusing.

Photos.
I am lead to believe that once the photos have been transferred from my iMac to my iPhone I CANNOT delete them from this device (iPhone 13 pro) even though they where taken on my old phone (iPhone 8 plus). Why has APPLE done this?!!

I don't need all the photos I have taken on my iPhone

Music/iTunes

My 'music' has been listed on the actual device, but the songs/albums have not been downloaded to the iPhone. They won't play unless I am connected to wifi/4g/5g etc..

How do I download the songs to my device rather than use wifi/data service?

Thank you

Darren

Yea the syncing behavior sucks in my opinion. I don’t use syncing because of it.

Syncing means both devices are synchronized. They both have the same content. Since the “source” data (pictures, music) is synced FROM the Mac, the Mac is the owner of the files so to speak. The only way to delete synced files that are on your iPhone or iPad is to delete them from the Mac.
It’s lame.

In its case.

Just some ideas - nobody flame me por favor, but these are tactics that have worked for me.

Are you still in possession of the 8 Plus, and does it still have the pictures in the Photos app? If so, you can move the photos over to the 13 directly using AirDrop or iCloud. It would take some time for AirDrop, depending how many photos you need to move. Another option is to install Google Photos on both phones - the photos on the 8 Plus will upload into the Google Photos app, then you can download them using the Google Photos app on the 13.

I don't know if Google Photos can be installed on a Mac (I assume it can be, but I've never used a mac), but if it can you can transfer the photos using it, just in case you no longer have the 8.

First, get rid of the sync'd photos on the 13 by emptying the folder on your Mac and syncing again. In my experience (I think I've done it twice lol) this will delete the synced photos.

I agree with now i see it that syncing photos on an Eye Phone is lame.

As far as music, the iTunes sync from my PC has always worked very well.

Hope this helps!
