I have a hard time with a $3400 iMac as well.
Do you really need one to one? - $100
applecare iMac $125 @ BH photo. -$50
Skip mouse, use old one. -$70
Skip iWork. -$80. If you only want, say, Pages, buy separate, $20 each.
Skip the SSD. Get it next time when its cheaper. You dont need it. -$500
Order BTO i7 from smalldog in VT, no tax. i7 with no SSD is $2300.
Save $800
Thank you for some of the tips!
1) Do you really need one to one? -- NO
- $100
2) AppleCare iMac $125 @ BH photo. -- Did not know thank you
-$50
3) Skip mouse, use old one. -$70 (on the fence about this)
-70 or +70
4) Skip iWork. -$80. If you only want, say, Pages, buy separate, $20 each -- GOOD POINTS! Actually was thinking of not getting it right now and wait till iWork 11 comes out and then yes on Mac App Store I can pick and choose the programs once they are released
-$80
5) Skip the SSD. Get it next time when its cheaper. You dont need it. Actually, I'm planning on keeping this 6-8 years so despite the high price in the market "next time" will be too long in the future.
