I just picked up a 5770 for 10 bucks.
I currently have a 5.1 with a existing 5770 can I just add another one?

Is it just plug and play?

I would like to run my third monitor and possibly a fourth off of the second 5770.

Ok will get the cable.
Also I see my original 5770 is single slot and this one is Double slot?
Also my original 5770 has a end piece that seems to slide in to the other side to give it support on both ends this does not have the end piece?

They are both double slot. Slot 1 on the Mac Pro is double wide. Only the Mac edition has the bracket that slides in on the far side.

If the new card doesn’t have the bracket then it isn’t a Mac edition card and won’t have a boot screen.

So I guess if I keep my two monitors hooked up to the existing card in slot 1 and I hook up the new card in slot 2 with a new monitor than I will get the apple boot screen on the two existing monitors and no boot screen on the new monitor?

Correct. Unless the new 5770 has been flashed with the Mac firmware (I don’t remember if that was possible for that card).

Under display the the third monitor is recognized but no picture.

And under the display info it has the second card as ATY hoolock

That’s strange.
I only ever had two real 5770’s in my Mac, which worked great.

I have read some other forums and I think you can't have a non mac efi and Mac efi card together?

yes, but those are almost identical cards.

Device and Revision IDs match,
even system profiler reports EFI driver for the card in slot 2

I bet for the other DVI output working. I know from some flashed cards that only some ports have output. This maybe is not a flashed card but the efi driver is active.

I tried the two dvi and HDMI ports and they are all black screen. The Mac recognizes the card as ATY hoolock

This is why we should all search the forum.

From the gpu compatibility in https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/gpu-compatibility-list-for-cmp.2174600/

10. ATI Radeon HD 5770 1 Gb
Performance: 58% RPI.
Power consumption: 6 pins.
Outs: DL-DVI + two mDP.
Other: occupies 2 slots. There is "mac edition" of cards.
Unflashed (PC version): doesn't work; can be flashed.

So that card won’t work unless you copy the firmware from the Mac card onto it.

Did you confirm the card actually works in any computer system? It may be the card itself that is not working.

Don’t believe everything you read on the internet.
the 5770 I have is a PC Card. It worked before I flashed it in macOS it just didn’t have a boot screen until after I flashed it.

I bought the card used so I don't know if it works.
So it's either firmware issue and the card just need to be flashed or it could be possible the card is not working?
What I do know.
The card is recognized and comes up as ATY hoolock.
The monitor is reconized I just don't have image.

But there was a post of someone else having the same problem saying that if you run each card individually they work just not together. I could be the conflict of have a Mac and non mac 5770?
