I know its pretty lame to post like this. I was just really excited about it
I decided about a month ago to buy a aTV. I decided I really wanted one that I could JB so I could use XBMC. No big deal right? Well, I was wrong. Seems the only place you can get ahold to one is on Ebay or Amazon and the people that have them know they are worth more to people than the $99 that was originally paid for them.
I tried to ebay snipe for a few days and never even got close. I almost had one at $160 but got sniped by another sniper. LOL
So, I am in Key West on detachment (military) and I figured I would slide over the the Navy Exchange. The possibility of one of the 2nd gens being was fairly high I figured. Well NO. That didn't work.
When I came back to Fort Worth, I was at work and lost another round of sniping attempts. I took lunch and went to the NEX on the base here. Of course all they had were the new ones. There was an apple display with a few items hooked up and there was an aTV sitting there. I flipped it over and looked at the model number SUCCESS! 2nd gen just sitting there waiting for me to find it.
I step back for a minute and think, I have to come up with a story as to why I need that one vice the 3rd gen. I know it, they aren't smart, I am having a compatability issue with my old MAC. Yea, that should work.
They lady tells me its no problem. She just has to go get the box for it in the back. She comes out and told me, 'unfortunately there is not a remote for it, we should be able to discount it though. She runs it on the register and it comes out on closeout for $79 She took off $25 for the missing remote which I bought at the same time for $18.
I felt like I stole it from them I walked out the door with a 2nd GEN aTV for $72.
Overall I am very happy with it, an aTv is a really nice piece, the netflix quality seems much better than the PS3 I was using before. a jailbroken aTV can just about mke you get rid of cable TV completly.
Just wanted to share.
