Hi Folks, i am new at i phoning and smart phones, i sure do hope you folks can help the helpless, ;)

i received a LG Optimus Dynamic 2 as a gift from my Son so we could be in contact more often, we are 1,700+ miles from each other....,

sooo, my question is can i use the same info of an iPhone ?

do they operate in the same manor ?

can this site help me with some of the questions i may have or do i need to find another forum ??

i still like :apple:

No, you didn't get an iPhone clone -- you got an Android phone.

As an Android phone you're not likely to find much useful information here, as your phone uses a completely different operating system than iPhones do. While some applications are cross-platform (meaning there are versions for both Android and iPhone) you'll still sometimes find substantial differences and you'd be better served investing your time on an Android specific forum.

Not saying you're not welcome, but it'd be a bit like hanging out in a French cooking school to learn how to make great sushi.

I'd recommend for phone specific stuff you look at http://www.androidcentral.com/ -- there may be better equivalents of MacRumors, perhaps someone with more information can add alternatives.

For working with Android and Apple devices, check the forum here named Alternatives to iOS and iOS Devices.

thank you very much, you gave me the info to get started in the right direction.

i had/have no idea what an android phone is, but with your info i now know what to tell others, "I HAVE AN ANDROID !"

once more thank you. :)

Glad to help.

To clarify the Android part...

The operating system that Apple puts on their phones is named "iOS". Yeah, just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? ;)

Only phones from Apple come with iOS. Sorry of how only Macintosh computers come with the OS X operating system from Apple (with the versions having names like Mavericks or Yosemite).

Your phone is made by a company named LG and it runs a phone operating system made by Google and also used on phones made by other manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC, and Motorola. The name of the operating system is "Android" with the versions having names of desserts/sweets (Ice Cream, Jelly Bean, KitKat, etc)

Enjoy your phone.
